I forget)...CRACKED's gain, the Gaines-baby's loss. The Fantagraphics collection of the complete HUMBUG! (the second Harvey Kurtzman magazine after MAD and the aborted two-issue TRUMP, and before HELP!) certainly entices, as well. Pity about Don Martin’s falling out with the MAD folks (post-Gaines? It was frowned on in my home, but I read the copies of friends. Martin was good. I do remember a few things from those magazines, but since I saw only a few of them my recollections are limited. Volume is incredibly funny, packed with far more than $30 worth of laughs. Volume 2 is only half-brilliant, because by then MAD was often assigning other writers to come up with Martin's gags. His illustrations are consistently crazy, but the other writers could not match his level of inspired insanity. Still, this set is a <i>must have!</i> Gazooks! This IS a great deal.
