HOME AGAIN

Diane loves romantic comedies so I was dragged to Home Again despite the terrible reviews (the things we do for Love). Reese Witherspoon plays a wife and mother with two cute daughters. Reese is separated from her husband (played by Michael Sheen) and trying to restart her life. She’s moved from New York City to Los Angles. She’s starting an interior decorating business. Hallie Meyers-Shyer wrote and directed this mess. Lake Bell is wasted. Candice Bergen is wasted. Reese gets to go to bed with young Pico Alexander to show us her Cougar side. No suspense, no surprises, no romance, no comedy. Avoid this turkey! GRADE: C-

Bad reviews. Trailer looks uninteresting. I’ll pass. Rather see It a second time. Going to see Kingsmen 2 Friday. Loved the first one.

However, coming as it does from a Nancy Meyers scion, I bet the interior design–particularly the kitchens–are swoon-worthy! I always get kitchen envy when I watch Nancy Meyers’s movies.

I’ll catch it when it comes to HBO. I’m with Steve, Kingsman2 would be my choice if I had time to go to the movies.

Why have we forgotten how to make good rom-coms? Or why has Hollywood forgotten how to make good movies? TV has learned while Hollywood has forgotten.

If I want to see excitement on screen, I’ll watch one of the JOHN WICK movies, not the mediocre KINGSMAN. Blah.

As for this mess, I pity you having to sit through it. Diane owes you a pizza at least.

I’d never have considered this. As for KINGSMEN 2, way, way too much violence. Doesn’t anyone make thoughtful films any more, without making them blame movies (blame the white folks for suppressing blacks, blame the wealthy for mistreating the poor, etc.)?

Rick, the Movie Market is driven by profits. That’s why IT (cost $35 million to make, has already taken in $200+ million) and movies of its ilk will dominate the theaters. Sad, but true.
