Foreverly gets my nomination as the most surprising album of the year. Billie Joe Armstrong (of Green Day) and Norah Jones team up to replicate the classic Everly Brothers album, Songs Our Daddy Taught Us from 1958. This bizarre project turns out incredibly well. The instrumentation is sparse, basically guitars with a piano and a muted rhythm section. The focus is on the vocals. Billie Joe and Norah harmonize beautifully. No one sings like this anymore. If you’re in the mood for some mellow songs from the past, you’ll find them here. GRADE: A

Apropos of nothing, that overhead mike makes Armstrong look like Dilbert’s boss.
Jerry, you’re right!
I’m waiting for the Crider review.
Jeff, I’m guessing Bill Crider will love this album.
Love what I have heard of it. Terrific choices.
Patti, FOREVERLY is an unusual album. But I like it!
I hope you got it for free, doesn’t look like anything worth paying for.
Rick, I bought my copy of FOREVERLY for a pittance on AMAZON.COM. Free 2-day shipping!
Sorry that comment was so grumpy. I’M grumpy. I’ll do better to stay off the computer today. (Cold weather, burst pipes, sick, Christmas pressure, To quote the line from Jurassic Park, “You name it, we got it”. Bah.
Rick, sorry to hear about those burst pipes! What a nightmare! Hope your regain your jolly Christmas spirit soon.
After Patti, I and George have all featured it, I imagine Bill is aware of it, at least! I also posted the whole album YT link…
Todd, I hope there’s a sequel to FOREVERLY in the works.
George, who wins tonight?
