KANSAS CITY CHIEFS VS. BUFFALO BILLS

CHIEFS VS. BILLS
The undefeated KC Chiefs roll into town as 3-point favorites over the hapless Bills. Thad Lewis, the former Practice Squad QB, has the flu and is recovering from the pummeling he took in New Orleans last week. He’s 50-50 at best to start today. If Thad Lewis can’t go, the Bills are down to their 4th-string QB, Jeff Tuel (pronounced “tool”) the undrafted rookie free-agent. Tuel was terrible in his appearance against the Cleveland Browns. And the Bills’ best player, running back C. J. Spiller, has a sore ankle and may not play today, either. I think the point spread should be about 14 points given the Bills’ offensive woes. How will your favorite NFL team do today?

I think you’re being generous with 14 points. Now that the Seahawks are home and playing the winless Bucs, we should have an easy romp.

Uh oh, doesn’t sound too good, George. This is another undefeated Sunday for the Giants – this time it’s their bye week. The Saints visit the Meadowlands to pummel the Jets, but I hope they are ready for 25 mph winds from the north with higher gusts. It will help prepare them for the conditions should they return for the Super Bowl, eh Deb?

The Panthers seem on an upswing. The ‘Skins and the Jets, despite a 4-4 record, look to be heading the other way. Don’t know whether RG III can ever get back to what he was pre-injury. But I hope.

The 6-1 Saints meet the 4-4 Jets today. On paper, it looks as if the Who-Dat Nation will have another reason to celebrate, but as Jeff points out, the one thing the players can’t control is the weather. Hoping that the wind dies down before kick-off!

The Meadowlands is notorious for the swirling winds but today is particularly bad. As George pointed out, we’re getting the weather directly from him. It’s 46 now but feels like the 30s with the wind. Just be careful on punts and kickoffs!

We’re getting your game this morning. I’ll be rooting for the Bills on your behalf, George, even though I’ve been pleased with KC’s success this year – Alex Smith got a raw deal from the Niners. Still, they’re not going to go 16-0, so they might as well drop one today.

We’re getting the KC-Buffalo game here at 10:00 too. I’d much rather see the Titans-Rams, but the TV scheduling gods do what they like. Then we get Seahawks-Bucs at 1:00, which we’ll be watching (instead of Steelers-Patriots, also on at that time). The Seahawks should win, hopefully with NO INJURIES, and may even have a chance to rest a few banged-up players.

George, you don’t think Matt Flynn will be able to play? Not that I think that will be enough. Seems the Bills have had a lot of bad lock this year.

No, I see he’s not playing. Too bad about that long touchdown run getting called back. You’d think the players would learn about the block in the back thing, eventually.

I just switched on the set and it’s 10-10 at the Bills-Chiefs game. I’d still put my money on KC.

If the Seahawks get screwed by the officials as they did in their previous Super Bowl appearance, they might as well stay home.

Yikes! Don’t know if I can watch much more of this debacle! The boys in black and gold are making a .500 team look like Super Bowl champs. I think I’m gonna switch over to the Dr. Daniel Amen Omni-Diet infomercial!

The Jets defense totally contained Brees and their running game (200 yards) did the rest.

The Chiefs have to be the luckiest undefeated team ever. They have Denver twice in the next three games. I don’t see them staying undefeated long.

In talking of the Chiefs success, no one mentions that as a terrible team last year they have a much easier schedule this year, though they can’t avoid the other teams in their division and so must play the Broncos twice. The Bills should also have an easier schedule, but they still have to play the Patriots twice.

WHEW! That was way too close. Seattle has not looked as strong on defense the last 3 weeks as they seem on paper. That sure wasn’t the “romp” Bob predicted, and while I was right that they “should win” I wish they didn’t have to take it to overtime. At least no injuries.

The Cap’n may see 8-1 and being on the way to the Super Bowl but I don’t, at least not at this point. Last week they barely survived against mediocre opposition but at least that was on the road. This week they were supposedly “invincible” at home playing an 0-7 team and they fell behind by THREE touchdowns before barely surviving in overtime. I don’t know what the problem is but they better straighten it out if they want to be taken seriously as among the league’s elite.
