Henry Kuttner died when he was 43. There’s no doubt in my mind that Kuttner could have been as great a writer as Asimov, Heinlein, and Jack Vance. The Dark World is one of Kuttner’s early sword and sorcery fantasies. Yet even in this genre, Kuttner’s brilliance shines through. Planet Stories is reprinting Henry Kuttner’s Robots Have No Tails this Spring. Don’t miss this great writer!
I might have THE DARK WORLD in an Ace Edition.
This edition of THE DARK WORLD has a nice essay on Kuttner by Piers Anthony that’s well worth reading.
George, as a new-hatched Planet Stories fan, thanks to you, I was curious about when you posted your first PLANET STORIES book in your blogsite. Looks like it was this one. I shoulda been paying more attention, though come to think of it, I did order the Northwest Smith volume the following spring. I’d have ordered the Skaith books, but I already have them in the Sci-Fi Book Club omnibus edition.
Suddenly I’m overwhelmed with books I want to read, just when I’m trying to get a theme going for the next issue of Lethal (#57 went to the P.O. yesterday).
Yes, Rick, this was my first PLANET STORIES posting. But I also reviewed some earlier PLANET STORIES releases in MAZES before I started blogging.
Like I said, I shoulda been paying more attention…
I’ll be reviewing some new Night Shade Books titles soon. Hang on to your wallet, Rick!
