THE KILLING: SEASON TWO FINALE

Tonight we finally find out who killed Rosie Larsen. AMC’s The Killing is based on the Danish series Forbrydelsen (The Crime). I’ve continued to watch The Killing even with its glacial pacing and tons of red herrings. For those of you not familiar with The Killing it’s basically a blend of Twin Peaks and 24. Each episode is roughly a day (we’re up to Day 26) and the police investigation centers on who killed Laura Palmer…er, Rosie Larsen. The cast, especially Mireille Enos as Sarah Linden (the lead homicide detective) and her quirky partner, Joel Kinnaman as Stephen Holder, kept me watching even as the lack of action in many of the episodes made my eyes glaze over. Yet, the intensity of Sarah Linden’s search to find the killer fascinated me and kept me watching over two seasons. It all gets wrapped up tonight. Or will there be another plot twist so a third season can be filmed?

I think they are really going to give us the answer tonight. As much as I wish the Chief was involved – for those who aren’t watching she is one tough, nasty b!tch who slammed her girlfriend/security chief’s hand in a door – I don’t that will be the outcome.

Linden and Holder are definitely the main reasons to keep watching.

Thanks for your kind Happy Father’s Day wishes, Jeff. Diane and I are headed over to my brother house to celebrate the day. I got a new Braun electric shaver. Nice Dad’s Day gift!

I hope you have given the Other series from the original KILLING folks a try, the one I’ve been touting to all who dare listen, BORGEN, which Link TV has been streaming online along with cable-/broadcasting (though they’re most widely visible on Dish and DirecTV). I’ve finally started watching the US THE KILLING this season, and I’d say it’s not as goofily improvisational as TWIN PEAKS seemed to get before getting into its final groove…but I still haven’t seen the 800 lb red herring that annoyed so many folks about the end of season one.

That 800 lb. Red Herring just about forced me to stop watching THE KILLING, Todd. I was very pissed to discover I had to watch ANOTHER season of THE KILLING to find out who killed Rosie Larsen. I promise to give BORGEN a try.

Thanks, Rick. We just returned from a Father’s Day feast: BBQ ribs, sausages, peppers & onions, garden salad, ambrosia, and, of course, dessert eclairs. Yum!

Yes, I agree completely with your assessment. So ridiculous to think someone would resume a political campaign a few days after becoming a paraplegic. And that’s just the beginning of the lunacy. And yet I watch.

I [heart] eclairs, especially with whipped cream rather than custard.

According to the creators this was always supposed to be one 26 episode series, divided in half, but they didn’t share that with viewers until the first half was over.

I had a WTF moment at the end of Season One of THE KILLING, Jeff. Hudgins and Katims better not try to fake us out again tonight!

In September 2011, it was announced that NBC would produce a US remake of Borgen, with a pilot being developed by David Hudgins and Jason Katims of Friday Night Lights fame.
