I finally found time to watch Tina Fey being interviewed by James Lipton on BRAVO’s Actors Studio. You can find the interview here. Tina Fey may be the smartest actor ever to appear on Actors Studio. If you find yourself wanting more (like I did) after the Tina Fey interview, there’s a bargain 3-DVD collection INSIDE THE ACTORS STUDIO: LEADING MEN: Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Sean Penn and Russell Crow. Fascinating viewing!
I remember the early days of ITAS when people like Glenn Close would give tips on how to succeed at an audition or Shelley Winters talked about method acting; then suddenly James Lipton was interviewing Will Smith and Billy Joel and it was all about promoting their next product and I lost interest.
Deb, you’re right about the trend toward promotion. Lipton shows a scene from Tina Fey’s new movie, ADMISSION. But Lipton also gets Tina Fey to do Sarah Palin again. Priceless!
It’s easy to see why Lipton has been parodied because he’s so easy, but the show still has things that make it worth watching. I’ll look at this one.
Jeff, Tina Fey’s Sarah Palin improvisation with Lipton is delightful!
I’ll have to check that out. I haven’t watched that show forever but have always enjoyed it when I did watch it. And Tina Fey is great. Date Night is one of my favorite rom-coms.
