After last Sunday’s debacle in Toronto where the Bills snatched defeat from the jaws of Victory by committing not one but two fumbles late in the game. The Bills fans who were smoking funny substances and thinking the Bills had a shot at the Playoffs by winning five games in a row (although they haven’t won two games in a row this season) have had their dim hopes dashed. So this Bills vs. Bucs game is a glorified pre-season game as both teams look toward next season. How will your favorite NFL team do today?
The Giants are a schizophrenic team this year. I am not too hopeful they will win in San Diego this afternoon. I’m more interested in seeing how the Saints-Panthers game goes tonight.
Jeff, I’ll be watching the Saints and Panthers tonight, too. I’m not much into college football, but yesterday’s results have turn the BCS bowl process into CHAOS!
I think we all agree that we can kick the “Skins and the Jets to the curb. The Panthers-Saints game tonight should be a good one. Hope the Panthers come through, but something tells me otherwise. The Saints are as tough at home as the Seahawks at their spot.
They play again in Carolina two weeks from now, where the outcome could be different.
Randy, the Saints will be tested tonight. The Carolina Panthers are on fire!
Jeff, that Saints vs. Panthers rematch will be important for Playoff slotting.
The Seahawks are in San Francisco today. Let’s see how well they do on the road.
After last week’s shellacking, the 9-3 Saints return home for po’ boys, crawfish, red beans, and hopefully a Superdome win against the identical-record Panthers. When it became obvious that this game would have playoff implications, NBC and the NFL quickly shifted it to the Sunday night game. The Saints need to have a strong win to make up for their pitiful performance in Seattle last Sunday and to keep alive even a hope of home-field advantage on the playoffs. I plan to be putting up Christmas decorations during the game. Hopefully, twinkly colored lights, 30 years worth of Christmas ornaments, and the dulcet tones of my kids working harmoniously together as they trim the tree (yeah right!) will keep my nerves in check.
Yes, Jeff, we certainly will. The Seahawks are still somewhat short-handed due to injuries (Harvin is STILL not back!) and SF is full strength, as opposed to the first meeting of the teams. This is probably the toughest non-playoff game the Seahawks have left. The Forty-Niners were 3 point favorites earlier in the week, but that may just be the home field 3 points. I’d like to think the Seahawks would be 7-10 point favorites, but I don’t know. I just hope there are not serious injuries.
Oh, and if Russell has to go out for any reason, the Seattle back-up QB is also not playing this week.
Deb, our Christmas tree is up and decorated. No distractions while watching the Panthers vs. the Saints here!
Rick, the Niners face a must-win game with the Seahawks. The Seahawks can afford to coast the rest of the season.
Well, the Seahawks still have the Giants coming up so that is one they’ll win for sure. The ‘Niners need this one badly.
I said it before and I’ll say it again, the Seahawks will lose if they commit too many dumb penalties. They did and they lost. Luckily, this wasn’t a do-or-die game, but they need to win the rest or they’ll limp into the playoffs. The good news> The hated Stealers lost. Sorry about the Bills and Lions, though.
Bob, the Lions looked lost in the Philly snow. The Bills have nothing to play for so the just sleep-walked through their game with the Bucs.
Saints win–decisively! I knew the home-cooking would work! And my tree is up and looks divine.
Deb, the Saints are a different team at home. And Carolina’s winning streak was due to end.
When I saw that the Panthers had the ball virtually the entire first quarter and it was only 6-0 I knew it was over.
I was afraid of just what happened. I didn’t see a lot of the second half because I was dealing with burst pipes, plumbers and hidden drain valves, but when Gore made that long run I knew it was all over.
