Fargo is the best series on cable right now. Casting Billy Bob Thorton as a stone-cold hitman was brilliant casting. But casting Allison Tolman as Deputy Sheriff Molly Solverson (an echo of the great role of Frances McDormand as a pregnant Minnesota police chief in the movie version) was an act of genius. Martin Freeman, of Sherlock and The Hobbit fame, starts out as a mousey insurance agent but evolves into something very creepy. Every episode of Fargo had a surprise (which I loved!). Tonight’s finale on FX is 90-minutes. I’ll be staying up to watch it in Real Time. If you haven’t been watching Fargo you’ve been missing a great program. GRADE: A
Absolutely cannot wait for this one. Martin Freeman deserves an award for his portrayal of the weaselly Lester. This has gone from a “why are they doing this?” to my favorite show.
Jeff, same here. FARGO is must-see TV!
I agree about the casting and the surprises. I hope the wrap-up can live up to the rest of the show. I was a little taken aback by the huge coincidence of the Las Vegas encounter, but the writing has generally been top-notch.
Bill, every time I’ve been to Vegas I’ve unexpectedly met people I know. You’re right about the top-notch writing!
By far my favorite show. And so beautifully filmed and directed. Noah Hawley just caught the ball and scored.
Patti, I heard an interview on FRESH AIR yesterday with Noah Hawley. He made it sound like FARGO was going to end tonight. No sequel, no series.
Well obviously, the intelligent viewers have taken it to heart.
Jeff, FARGO proves there’s a market for intelligent TV.
Hmmm, Jeff’s comment makes it clear I’m not intelligent. Sigh. I couldn’t even make it through half of the film. There must be something on TV that is for my taste, but I haven’t found it, I guess. I’m glad you all are enjoying it, though. Hope the final episode is great. Has it been extended, or is it a single season program?
Rick, it looks like FARGO will be a one-shot series.
Or maybe the good stuff is all past my bedtime. I spend most evenings reading.
Rick, FARGO and LONGMIRE are 10:00 P.M. programs here. I almost always DVR them. But tonight I’ll be watching the finale.
We usually watch FARGO on Wednesdays but tonight will DVR it and start watching at 10:30.
Jeff, Diane and I will be watching from the beginning to the end of tonight’s episode.
When my first wife and I eloped to Lake Tahoe we ran into her father, whom I’d never met. I never saw him again.
Bob, very strange…
