Rhino Records has done it again with this fabulous 3 CD and DVD box set of Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young’s 1974 concert tour. The 40 songs on these CDs–some never released before–will certainly transport you back to the Seventies. Yes, this is a great nostalgia indulgence, but well worth it. There’s also a single CD available at Wal-Mart in case you don’t want to shell out $54.98 for this deluxe box set. What’s your favorite CSNY song?

My favorite is Helpless-I’ve always felt Neil Young was the best songwriter of the group.
Steve, I’m with you on Neil Young’s songwriter talents.
I don’t remember them myself, but my grandparents were fans when they were kids & they told me all about them.
Dan, CSNY is worth a listen anytime.
Dan might be joking, but apparently CSNY were touring in 1874! Who did they open for–Buffalo Bill?
Anyway, I’m adding this to my wish list. I’ve seen CSNY in various incarnations over the years–and those harmonies are a little more strained these days–but they’ll always have a place in my heart.
Deb, I saw this set deeply discounted at a Sam’s Club last week. I need a proofreader.
Btw, it’s almost impossible for me to pick a favorite CSNY song, but “Carry On” is wonderful.
Deb, I’m with you on “Carry On.”
If you want to bring back the feeling of the day, “Ohio” is hard to top but overall I’m with Steve – one of Neil’s songs would have to be the pick. (If not “Ohio” then one of the others.)
Deb, we’ve seen them several times too but these days I find it hard to listen to how bad Stephen Stills sounds (and harder to look at that awful nanny goat chin whisker). We’ve seen three of them in 1984 (1884?), 2000 and 2009, and with Young in 2006 on their anti-war tour. We’ve seen Neil Young alone (or with Crazy Horse) in 2003, 2007, 2008 and 2012. The worst was the awful “Greendale” concert.
Amazon has that one disc version for $10.
Jeff, I picked up the one disc version at Wal-Mart for less than $10. I like to have CD’s in my Rogue when I’m running errands.
Quick! Only $39.88 for the set at Amazon.
Jeff, I saw this set for $34.98 at Sam’s Club.
“Southern Cross” is my favorite, but I think it’s from the ’80s.
Jimmy Buffett has added “Southern Cross” to his regular repertoire in concerts in recent years and I must admit I prefer his version. But I believe that is CSN without Young.
$34.98 is a great price.
I prefer the studio albums to the live recordings and the CSN to CSNY.
James, I’m with you on the studio albums. Like you, I’m partial to CSN over CSNY.
Bill, CSN (without Y) faded in the 1980s as musical fashions changed.
Jeff, Sam’s Club doesn’t carry much music, but what they have is always really cheap!
“The Lee Shore” (aka “All Along the Lee Shore”) is another CSNY sailing song, but it’s probably too quiet for Buffett. I’ve spoken to people who are convinced “Southern Cross” is a Jimmy Buffett original.
Deb, he usually thanks Stephen Stills (doesn’t mention his co-writers) when he does “Southern Cross” in concert.
Jackie picked Southern Cross and Teach Your Children.
I like the simple purity of “Helplessly Hoping.”
