Back in 1972, The Rise & Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars hit the music scene with the force of a neutron bomb. Ziggy Stardust was David Bowie’s 5th album. It is a concept album where Bowie plays a bisexual rock star who is a messenger for extraterrestrial aliens. Many critics consider Ziggy Stardust as the album that launched the “Glam Rock” era of the Seventies. Rolling Stone ranked Ziggy Stardust as the 35th best album ever released. The 40th Anniversary CD includes extra tracks. I think this album has one of the best titles ever! What’s your favorite David Bowie song? For me, it’s a tie between “China Girl” and “Under Pressure” (with Queen).

Haven’t heard this one in years, mainly because i have it on vinyl and no working turntable. Of course it was kind of worn anyway.
Randy, you might want to pick up a copy of the 40th Anniversary edition. The extras are very interesting!
Off the top of my head I’d have to go with Heroes and Rebel,Rebel. My favorite album would be Aladdin Sane.
Steve, I was disappointed in Bowie’s last album.
While I love “Under Pressure,” I think of it more as a Queen song–Freddie Mercury’s vocals really make it the classic it is. For pure Bowie, it’s a toss-up between “Young Americans” and “Golden Years.”
Deb, I really like “Young Americans” and “Golden Years,” too!
LIFE ON MARS.
Patti, great choice…especially during MARS WEEK!
None. Not a fan.
Jeff, David Bowie had so many different incarnations and musical styles. He was a complete chameleon.
My favorite Bowie songs are all from the Labyrinth soundtrack. I grew up a fan of Henson’s work and Labyrinth remains one of my favorite fantasy films…and I just love the music in that show.
Carl, I’ll have to dig out my copy of the LABYRINTH soundtrack.
I played my vinyl copy to death over a few years, then bought the CD when it cmd out, but haven’t listened to it for a long time. I like most of the songs here, especially “Ziggy Stardust” and “Rock ‘N Roll Suicide”.
Rick, I followed the same pattern.
I’ve seen Bowie three times in concert.
Win and TVC15 are favorites but I enjoy most of what he does – even now.
Beth, I always wanted to see Bowie in the 1980s, but somehow he never showed up in Buffalo when I was around.
Fantastic cover 🙂
