While rooting around in my basement looking for a book, I ran across this CD from the 1990s. I’m a big fan of Daryl Hall and John Oates and their unique version of “Blue-Eyed Soul.” “Sara Smile” was a big hit for them as was “Everytime You Go Away.” I like the cover of “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’.” My favorite song on this CD is “Possession Obsession.” Check out the live version from The Liberty Concert (1985) below. What’s your favorite Hall & Oates song?

Jackie is a bigger fan of theirs than I am. We have seen them in concert – wow, it’s 10 years ago – when they were the headliners with Michael McDonald & The Average White Band.
My favorite song? Rich Girl (their first #1) and Kiss On My List and She’s Gone.
Jeff, you picked some of Hall & Oates’ best songs! They had a nice string of hits.
I’m not a fan. Never really cared for any of their songs, though I wouldn’t always switch the radio station when they came on. Not always, but usually.
Bill, I remember being at a NY Giants game and the team did their pregame workout to Hall & Oates’ “I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do)” over the loudspeaker.
Favorites: Do What You Want, Be Who You Are, and two that aren’t on this record: Back Together Again and Out of Time (not the Rolling Stones’ song of the same title). Also liked their first “Philly Soul” song, She’s Gone.
/I Can’t Go for That has been sampled in so many rap and hip-hop songs, H&O can live on the royalties.
Deb, you’re right about “I Can’t Go for That” being sampled a zillion times. I’m with you on their “Philly Soul” song, “She’s Gone.” It still sounds great.
Were they in Orleans when they did You’re Still the One? If so, that’s my fab fave.
Bob, could be.
