David Tennant plays a Big City police detective who investigates a murder in a small town. Nothing new here, you think. Robert B. Parker’s Jesse Stone series followed the same template. But, no, Gracepoint is an American adaption of a British series called Broadchurch. David Tennant reprises his role from Broadchurch in Gracepoint. And, the producers say the American version will have a “different ending.” I’ve liked David Tennant since his stint as the 10th Doctor Who. I’ll be watching Gracepoint tonight.
Since we saw BROADCHURCH and it is supposedly exactly like it through the first six episodes, I guess we won’t. Although BROADCHURCH was excellent.
Patti, rumors swirl that the ending of GRACEPOINT will be different than the ending of BROADCHURCH. I’m curious to see what they change so I’ll be watching.
I’ve not seen Broadchurch, though I reviewed the novelization. Glad to hear of an ending change. May have to watch after all.
Randy, that’s the marketing strategy behind GRACEPOINT. It will follow the BROADCHURCH template fairly closely, but deliver a different ending.
Think of all the reading I get done while the rest of you are watching TV. Truth is, though, I’ll be watching the Oregon vs. Arizona game tonight.
Rick, Oregon should win easily. Like Jeff Meyerson, I DVR just about everything and zip through the commercials. That produces more reading time.
You should be watching the Tigers defeat the Orioles. Thursday night football, bah, humbug.
Patti, I do hope the Tigers win, a sweep would be good. The game tonight is a college game, the Oregon Ducks (#2 in the nation!).
Wishful thinking, Patti. The bullpen imploded and that is not a good sign for the rest of the series.
We decided that despite the different ending we did not want to watch the same show again, though I caught a few minutes of it last night.
