CHAOS IN KABUL By Gerard de Villiers

chaos in kabul
I’m a fan of Gerard de Villiers’ Malko spy series. I’ve reviewed a couple of Malkos here and here.  Chaos in Kabul follows the template of the other Malko novels: double-dealing, betrayal, violence, and sex.  The usual spy shenanigans result.  If you’re looking for a fast-paced action novel, Chaos in Kubul delivers.  GRADE: B+

Have you noticed in recent years that some have changed the way they pronounce Kabul to Cobble rather than Ka-BOOL?

George, I just saw you comment on Patti’s blog. THE BIG BOOK OF LOCKED-ROOM MYSTERIES was just published YESTERDAY. How can you have read 960 pages already????? My copy hasn’t even come in the mail yet! Today or tomorrow, maybe. I know you’re a fat reader, but god’s teeth, you can’t read 960 a day, can you?

Rick, THE BLACK LIZARD BIG BOOK OF LOCKED-ROOM MYSTERIES arrived here last Friday. I’ve been reading this Big Fat book (over 900+ pages!) for six days.

Otto has sure been keeping busy lately, between this and another big book of 19th Century American Mysteries.

I have Prime too, but my copy was coming from my sister in law (b’day present), who is probably too cheap to have it. So I suppose it will show up next week, when the donkey cart comes up our hill. Not that it matters, I guess, since Barbara is hinting since I already got something for b’day, she’ll whisk it away until Christmas.

And to Jeff’s comment, I think some just put the accent on the first syllable instead of the second. Perhaps it’s more in line with the local usage?
