Matt Smith is a tough act to follow. I think Peter Capaldi did as well as he could in the shadow of two of the most popular Doctor Whos–David Tennant and Matt Smith. But I wasn’t energized by Season Eight. Too many of the episodes were ho-hum. Jenna Coleman, an excellent Companion, was wasted and will leave the series. I was hoping Helen Mirren would become Doctor Who (and I’m still hoping). The Doctor Who Christmas Special should be entertaining.
I have to agree that Capaldi’s first season has not been inspiring. Hope things move a bit better next year. I’m not sure I’m ready for a female Doctor though.
Randy, the Doctor Who series has always taken chances. A woman Doctor Who would not surprise me.
He does seem an odd choice, almost as thought they were trying to find someone as different from the previous Doctor as possible.
I agree – it’s time for a woman.
Jeff, I wish Capaldi would have something distinctive to differentiate himself from the other Doctor Whos. Following David Tennant and Matt Smith–two much younger Doctors–doesn’t help, either.
Sure doesn’t look like any idea of Dr. Who I’ve ever had, but then I was never much of a Who fan and when I did watch, I thought Tom Baker was best.
Rick, I’m with you on Tom Baker. But Matt Smith is right up there in the Doctor Who pantheon.
