After the Buffalo Bills lost to the Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins in a 5-day disastrous period a week ago, the Bills now face the Jets today in a meaningless game for both teams. The 2-8 Jets are going nowhere and the 5-5 Bills have a 4% chance of making the Playoffs. Playing this game on Monday night in Detroit–on a neutral field–in front of “fans” who got free tickets to attend the game makes the whole thing bogus to me. What do you think?
I agree, but the show must go on.
Bob, I’m not sure what kind of “show” we’ll see tonight. The Bills couldn’t practice for most of last week because of the Lake Effect snow.
Radio stations and others are urging Jets’ fans to “turn Detroit Green” by showing up at the game. I guess some might.
But more importantly, what about that incredible catch last night by Odell Beckham, Jr.?
Jeff, I agree with Chris Collinsworth that Odell Beckham, Jr.’s catch was the Catch of the Century! Astonishing! But, the Giants still lost.
Great catch, all right.
As for the Bills/Jets, better they should play in Detroit than on top of 6 feet of snow.
Bill, the Buffalo Bills are offering $10 an hour and game tickets for people to come out to Ralph Wilson Stadium to shovel off the 70,000 seats in time for the game with the Cleveland Browns next Sunday.
They could have played in the Meadowlands where it will be 70 today, but since the Jets already played the Bills here that wasn’t an option.
Jeff, after the Bills were traumatized by last week’s Snow Event, I guessing a dome stadium for this game was a must.
The NFL schedule must be observed–regardless of a once-in-a-century snow event! They will find a way to play this game–somewhere, somehow.
Meanwhile, despite their mediocre 4-6 record and despite not playing yesterday, the Saints go into tonight’s game against the Ravens back on top of the NFC South. Have already heard a couple of “we’re number one” type comments on local sports radio. As they say on one of the national pre-game shows, C’mon man!
Deb, “C’mon man!” is right!
I saw on ESPN this morning that scalpers are trying to hawk those free tickets at premium prices. One ticket site won’t allow them to post them. I’m glad.
Randy, those “free” tickets are going for $100 each around here. What a rip-off!
The Bills – Jets game isn’t being broadcast here, I guess it’s only in the locals areas: Detroit, New York. We get the Ravens – Saitns, which is likely to be the better game anyway. I guess if I had to pick the Super Bowl teams today, I’d say Green Bay vs. New England.
Rick, the Jets vs. Bills game will be on the NFL Network in addition to local TV in NYC and Buffalo. And, somewhere on the Internet.
We’re getting the game on CBS tonight, Rick. I agree the Saints-Ravens game is more interesting.
Jeff, the Ravens vs. Saints game have Playoff implications. The Jets vs. Bills game is a dud.
Jeff, you and George are in the “local area” for this game. We here in the Pacific Northwest are not. Our listings don’t have the Bills-Jets on NFL, CBS or any other channel. So YOU are the lucky ones, in that you have a choice of games, good for jumping back and forth during commercials.
GO BILLS! They are crushing the Jets.
Rick, I think the Bills unleashed their frustrations with the Snow Event on the hapless Jets.
Too bad for the Bills they can’t play the Jets every week, eh George? That was embarrassing.
Jeff, I now believe the Jets are the Worst Team in the NFL even though they have more wins than Oakland. They really quit on Rex Ryan.
