I saw Fleetwood Mac in concert back in the 1970s in Madison, Wisconsin. The tickets were $15 each. A few years later, Diane and I saw Fleetwood Mac again when they stopped in Buffalo. The tickets cost $20 each. Now, decades later, Fleetwood Mac is back together for what promises to be their Final Tour. The tickets cost us $200 each. All the members of Fleetwood Mac are on Medicare and collecting Social Security, but they’re still rocking! The set list for other concerts suggests what we’ll be hearing tonight.

Remember seeing the original Fleetwood Mac at a small club in Michigan about 1968. Fronted then by Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer on guitars. Oh Well, Albatross, Green Manarishi, Black Magic Woman. Great show. Never saw the later version with Buckingham and Nicks.
Steve, Fleetwood Mac has gone through a number of configurations. I didn’t see the Peter Greeen and Jeremy Spence version, but I’ve seen the Buckingham and Nicks version twice.
I saw them in ’76 with my ex in Oakland, CA. A scorching day in an uncovered stadium but a good show.
Bob, you’re right. Fleetwood Mac put on a good show. I’m curious to see what they do tonight.
Great! You will have a greast time. We did – and we paid that much to see them at Madison Square Garden. We saw them twice before without her but could not resist the chance to see them with the great Christine McVie back.
Enjoy!
Jeff, Diane is a big Christine McVie fan. Diane claims Fleetwood Mac always sounds better when Christine McVie is part of the group.
Diane is a woman of excellent taste, obviously. I thought they were good last time but seemed to have more energy with Christine.
Jeff, exactly! Christine McVie makes their sound better.
Wow! I hope they still have the pipes.
Patti, we’ll find out tonight if Fleetwood Mac can still belt it out.
Unlike others I could mention (see Stephen Stills, for one) they can still sing. I would never pay to see C, S & N again. His voice is shot.
Jeff, there are a number of performers whose voices are shot. A friend of mine when to a Neil Diamond concert and came away very disappointed. A few days later Neil Diamond issued a press release apologizing for his performance. Diamond claimed he had a cold.
Love FM, with or without Christine McVie, but $200 a pop is a little rich for my blood. My husband and the twins saw FM at JazzFest a couple of years ago, so they’ve had their fix. I guess I just have to keep listening to the CDs.
Deb, we figure this is the last Fleetwood Mac tour so we bought those $200 tickets. Normally, I wouldn’t spend that kind of money for a Geezer Group.
Have a good time. These groups never sound as good to me as on the recordings from the day, so I prefer to listen to those.
Rick, we’ll be listening to FLEETWOOD MAC’S GREATEST HITS in our vehicle on the way to and from the concert. Like you, I prefer studio albums to live performances. But I have seen (and heard) some very good live performances. We’ve seen some great concerts by Sarah McLachlan, Linda Ronstadt, and Loreena McKennitt over the years.
I wasn’t a fan (they came along after my teen radio years), but my older daughter found them and liked them when she hit 12 and 13. I took her to a concert by the 1989-era FM, minus Buckingham and Nicks, with Billy Burnette and Rick Vito. Also a concert by Nicks on one of her solo tours around the same time. FM shows up in heavy rotation on the Clear Channel stations regardless of whether they’re “mix” or “classic rock.”
Fred, I saw Stevie Nicks in concert decades ago. She spent much of the time on stage with her back to the audience. RUMOURS and BELLA DONNA still sound pretty good to me.
We saw Stevie Nicks in concert with her former lover Don Henley in 2005. They did their duet hit (“Leather and Lace”) and some other stuff together, and each did a solo set, sometimes with the other as backup. The most annoying part was all the “Stevies” in the audience twirling around the entire night.
Jeff, there were several faux-Stevies in the crowd at the concert, too.
So, how was it ??????????
Rick, we really enjoyed the Fleetwood Mac concert! They sang all their hit songs. Christine McVie and Stevie Nicks looked dazzling. The sell-out crowd was enthusiastic!
Knew Fleetwood Mac in the SF Bay area before they became a popular POP band. Their pre-pop stuff rocked, and was better – then they sold out.
I played water polo against Lindsey and Greg (Olympic) Buckingham before the day. Saw them in concert in the early 70’s, before the explosion of
their pop stuff. Wish them well, but not a fan since the early days…
Roy Bobbin Hovey
Roy, you have some History with Fleetwood Mac. It was a fun concert!
