Thank you–and happy Mother’s Day to your wife too. And let’s not forget our mothers-in-law–for those of us (like me) who are fortunate enough to have nice ones.
Deb, I hope your Mothers Day is restful and relaxing! Diane is reenacting Thanksgiving today: turkey, stuffing, yams, green beans, jello salad. Desserts include apple pie, coffee cake, chocolate cake, and ice cream.
Jeff, Diane’s 95-year-old mother who lives with us can’t leave the house. So we have to bring the Mothers Day Dinner to her. Plus, Diane likes to cook.
Last year, a Chinese restaurant was the only place we could find that didn’t have a two-hour wait time on FATHER ‘S DAY. We never even try to go out to eat on Mother’s Day. We usually go out to eat the night before, but last night one of our girls had to work and another had boyfriend plans, so we may wait and do a combined dinner out for Father’s Day.
Happy Mother’s Day to Diane, and to her Mom! Sorry Diane has to do all that work, maybe you can help, George!
I made Barbara waffles this morning, and am making pot roast and mashed potatoes for dinner, with ice cream cones for dessert. She’s hoping her daughters will call (sometimes one of them does, the other, not usually).
Rick, I worked shoulder-to-shoulder with Diane. I cubed the bread for the stuffing. I chopped up the onion (also for the stuffing). I peeled some potatoes. I helped set the table. And, after the dinner, I brewed two pots of coffee–one regular, one de-caf–to go along with our desserts! And, of course, I de-boned the turkey and helped clean up.
Same to you, you bad motherf—-
Shut yo’ mouth!
But I’m talkin’ ’bout George.
Bob, then we can dig it!

Happy Mothers Day to Diane (and your mothers), and Deb and all the other mothers out there.
Jeff, Mothers Day will look a lot like Thanksgiving at our house. But, that’s a Good Thing!
Sounds like a perfect menu to me. We’re avoiding all the “special” Mother’s Day menus at local restaurants and going Chinese.
Jeff, I love Chinese food!
Jackie wants to know why Diane is cooking on Mother’s Day!

Deb, we’ve encountered conflicts on MOTHERS DAY and FATHERS DAY, too. A combined dinner sounds like a sensible compromise.

Way to go, George.
