Have a great Thanksgiving. What’s on the menu? We’ll have enough turkey, stuffing, potatoes and Jello mold for three days, and chocolate pudding birthday pie for two.
Jeff, Life is Very Good! We have a 16 pound turkey that will go in the oven in a few hours. Gravy, of course. Mash potatoes, green beans, and jello salad are on the menu. We have apple pie, pumpkin pie, and pecan pie for dessert. And, for people who prefer cake, we have a Lemon Cake from Canada. Yum!
I’m guessing she doesn’t consume that many calories, so at least dinner would be cheap!
My husband put the turkey in a brine last night and it will be put on the outdoor grill/smoker soon. Toward the end of cooking time, he’ll cover it with cheesecloth soaked in white wine and melted butter (thank you, Martha Stewart). I prepare all the side dishes: mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, dressing, sweet potatoe casserole, and gravy. Yesterday, I made a pumpkin and a pecan pie: they’re sitting in the fridge for dessert. The only bummer this year is that our dishwasher is on the fritz, so all dishes will be washed by hand– yikes!
None the less, a very happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
Gosh, George, that’s what I’m having for Thanksgiving dinner! We decided a turkey and all the stuff was too much work. I gave the turkey to the Bumpases.

Her outfit sparkles like a vampire in a very bad movie.
I’m not sure what’s for dinner today. My son-in-law is cooking a very complicated meal with exotic side dishes, but there will be turkey and ham and something that calls for bacon. A good friend is making homemade bread and my wife was told to bring her peppermint brownies and a lemon chiffon pie. I’m bringing my winning smile and a healthy appetite.
I wish the entire Kelley brood a happy and meaningful Thanksgiving, George. Your blog and your friendship are just two of the many things I am thankful for today.
Maggie, just your ordinary (sugar free) pie, but Tuesday was my birthday so it’s a joint celebration as chocolate pudding pie is a favorite and neither of us likes pumpkin.

Maggie, great idea! Patrick is a fan of pumpkin pie so we always have one when he visits. I’m a fan of pecan pie. But I’ll probably sample the apple pie and the chocolate cream pie, too!

Was on the road from Hungary to Germany (just 500 miles …) today and managed to get two references in the few minutes that I listened to radio (instead of my old rock cds …):
Both the Bavarian and the Austrian radio mentioned Obama’s turkey pardoning – one station even had an audio snippet from him, calling “Abe” the TOTUS – Turkey of the US …
Btw, the number “46 millions on the road” was also mentioned – are these people or even cars on the road for this weekend? Must be really crowded then …
Wolf, gasoline is relatively cheap in the U.S. so road trips are back in fashion. But, being a Contrarian, I didn’t drive today at all. Tomorrow is BLACK FRIDAY where crazed shoppers show up stores for “fabulous bargains” at 4 A.M. I’ll be fast asleep while all that buying madness is going on.
For some reason I’m fixated on the wishbone right now!
