HOUSTON TEXANS VS. BUFFALO BILLS

HOUSTON TEXANS VS BUFFALO BILLS
After the Bills (5-6) loss in Kansas City last Sunday their chances of making the Playoffs plunged to a mere 20%. Today’s game against the suddenly resurgent Houston Texans (6-5) looks like another loss for the red-white-and-blue. I was hoping for snow which might affect the Texans, but the weather-guessers are predicting a 50 degree day (a rare event here in December!). How will your favorite NFL team perform today?

I expect the Seahawks to have a tough time against the hated Vikings! I’m somewhat encouraged by the victory over the hated Stealers last week, but you never know what the guys will do on any given game day!

Bob, while the Seahawks are improving, the Bills are regressing! The Bills were Number One in the NFL the past two seasons in sacks (over 50 per year!). This year, under Rex Ryan, they’re ranked 30th in sacks! Big fall-off!

Rick, I wasn’t happy when the new Bills owners hired Rex Ryan. I thought it was a Big Mistake then and I think it’s a Big Mistake now.

When a team’s only bright spot is the chance to destroy a rival team’s undefeated record, it’s time for Miss Deb to yell, “Check please!” Today the 4-7 Saints take on the 11-0 Panthers in the Superdome. There’s a lot of mean-spirited talk in the Who-Dat Nation about handing Cam Newton and the Panthers their first defeat of the season, but I prefer to stay out of the premature gloat fest and will be putting up Christmas decorations. A headline this week in the New Orleans Picayune said it all: “Its time to accept that the Saints do not have a strategy for winning this season.” Yes, indeed!

Deb, the Panthers look unstoppable–like the Warriors who are 21-0 and dominating the NBA. The Saints (like the Bills) need to be planning for Next Season.

Whether the Giants win or lose today in their Showdown in The Meadowlands against the Jets doesn’t really matter at this point. The abysmal loss in D.C. to the Redskins last week basically doomed their season as much as the Bills season is doomed. (After all, the Giants still have to face the Panthers and Vikings in consecutive weeks.) They are an underachieving team who should have won this very week division easily. As George pointed out, they have by far the best quarterback. And yet where are they? At 5-6 and going nowhere, even if they do somehow make the playoffs at 8-8, which is still possible.

So no, I won’t be watching today. It’s over and I don’t care,

I can hardly watch football any longer. I sporadically check in, and thurs. I checked in on the packers, and they started scoring, so I watched the rest of the game, and got blown away by the no time left hail mary. WOW. Aaron Rodgers has a beach house here, and his brother has a sports bar, so we have a slight connection.

Even with last weeks win, the chargers are toast. There was a lamentation in the paper that they may no longer be eligible for the first pick of the draft. Our division is stronger than in the past, with the hated raiders winning. (Am I right in thinking there is one division with no team (or maybe just one) with a winning season thus far.

The chargers are playing Denver, and with the replacement QB taking over well for manning, we probably don’t stand a chance. Just hope rivers stays healthy.

The chargers will probably leave and though I hate to see the team leave, don’t care about the spanos family and their weird ways. Getting Danny Whitehead and signing rivers were the best things they did. Not signing Weddle was a slap in the face to a player with heart.

I’m with Bob on thinking the Seahawks will have their hands full with the Vikings, who are looking very strong this season. I’m not sure they’ve faced a running back as good as Peterson, and their pass D is still porous. For the Seahawks, a win could mean a wild card spot, but a loss probably means they’re out.

This seems to be the most injury-plagued season in years, and the playoffs may simply be a matter of attrition and who is healthiest over the rest of this month and next.

Bill, the Bills tried to give the game away to the Texas a couple of times. I think both teams still have a shot at the Playoffs mathematically.
