Here we are just a couple games from the Super Bowl. The Patriots are 3 1/2 point favorites over the Broncos. Although this is the 17th meeting of Brady and Manning, this game lacks drama. The Arizona Cardinals may be the best team in this bunch of four. Carolina is favored by 3 points but Cam Newton will have to have an exceptional game to beat the Cardinals. Who do you think will playing in the Super Bowl two weeks from now?
One has to marvel at the consistency and accomplishments of the Patriots. One of the greatest franchises and runs in sports history. Nevertheless, I’d like to see Peyton Manning have a shot at winning his 2nd Superbowl. Like so many before him (Willie Mays, Dan Marino), he’s a major superstar who had guys around him over the years, though very good, who were not quite up to winning it all. One guy can’t do everything. I actually think Montana, Brady (and maybe one or two others) are/were a hair better, but Peyton is a class guy, and how cool would it be for him to go out on top? Having said that, one can’t help but marvel at Cam Newton and the Panthers – possibly a juggernaut for years to come. Arizona’s defense is mighty, and their offense has been superb. Could go either way, but Carolina seems to be on a mission, and New England just seems to know how to get it done. I’d like to see Carolina vs. Denver, though I predict the Panthers vs. Patriots again, sans a Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction like their previous Superbowl matchup.
Roy, Patriot-haters will say New England wins because they cheat.
It’s come down to which teams I dislike the least, so I’m pulling for Arizona and the Deflategate Patriots!
Calling All Patricks! The name and email blocks still don’t work!
Bob, Vegas loves the Patriots. I think the Smart Money is on the Cardinals. We’re hoping the new version of WORDPRESS will fix this email info problem.
I have no skin in the games, but I’m guessing Pamthers-Patriots.
Regarding the name-email issue: I also have to enter my name and email every time I return to your blog (if I want to post a comment). However, this is happening to me on several other blogs too, so was not sure if the problem was on my end, your end, or WordPress in general.
Deb, I don’t know what’s causing the info entry problem. No word from WORDPRESS Tech Support so Patrick and I tried a few “fixes” but obviously they don’t work. Panthers vs. Patriots would make an entertaining Super Bowl!
And regardless of which teams are in the Super Bowl, I’ll be making a crockpot full of delicious Buffalo chicken dip–yummo!
Deb, pizza and Buffalo chicken wings are our go-to foods for the Super Bowl! That dip sounds wonderful!
I don’t have much interest in the games. Probably won’t even watch today.
Bill, I’ll have a book in my lap while I “watch” these games.
I won’t be watching the first game, other than to check the score. I expect Brady & the Patriots to win again. I don’t care for the Broncos but I would like to see the Patriots lose. In the late game I have to go with the Panthers, though the Cardinals can be scary. My father was touting Larry Fitzgerald to me years ago, when Arizona had little else, and he is definitely a game-changer, as we saw last week.
I’ll be picking whoever wins this game to win the Super Bowl in two weeks.
Jeff, I think you’re right. Both the Carolina Panthers and the Arizona Cardinals are better teams than the Patriots.
I’m hoping for Denver to win over the Patriots. Last week our paper had something about numerous teams having trouble with communications systems while playing at New England, not to mention other things, like deflategate. I think if Kraft wasn’t such a major part of the NFL owners mafia, action would have been taken long ago. I”d also like to see Peyton have as many superbowl rings as Eli,who is a weaker player. I’d like to see the Panthers win today, and even take it all, but Arizona is a strong team, but the one with the weakest QB.
My hope is for a Broncos Panthers Superbowl, with Panthers winning. I’d be ok but not as happy with the Cardinals there.
Since I use Google chrome, I just have to put the first letter of my name and email and autofill shows up (if that’s the technical term)
Maggie, you’re right. This is nothing new. Belichick was known for sending spies to Jets’ practices for years.
When I use the phone or tablet the info shows up, but on the computer I have to type it in every time.
Maggie, the Buffalo Bills have been having communication problems in Foxboro for years. I use GOOGLE Chrome, too. The Auto-fill function works great!
But today it was the other way round and no one said the Broncos were cheating. I don’t think the Patriots do anything the other teams don’t, people just seem to like putting down winners.
On your blog, it doesn’t matter what device I use, my information doesn’t autofill. I’ve checked my autofill settings on both the desktop, laptop, and it’s not my end, also the IOS settings are fine. At your end, the computer should recognize the information for the IP and allow the information to be remembered. Or something like that. Since it was fine for years until you had that crash, so it should have come back. Maybe your hopes for a fix when a new version comes out, we’ll see. Using Chrome, Firefox, Safari, it doesn’t matter.
Do you (anyone reading this) have the same problem with the identity blocks autofilling on my blog? I’d like to know.
Rick, I’ve had no problems with the identity blocks on your blog. But I think my WORDPRESS blog runs on a different server. The problem might be caused by their anti-virus software.
Rick, no. No problem.
Everyone is so beat up this year, injuries, injuries. Carolina may be the healthiest team of the four.
Barbara lived in Denver for years, so we’ll be rooting for the Broncos, plus I like Manning as a class guy. Brady is very, very good, and I expect NE to win that game. In the other game, I’d like to see the NFC West winner to take it, but, unless the weather is a factor, I think Carolina has too much.
Rick, an ESPN “expert” said that Arizona is the most “balanced” team in the Playoffs. Whatever that means…
I’m sort of thinking of the Cardinals Panthers game as the superbowl. I think of them as the 2 best teams, so that’s my superbowl. I’ll tape it and fast forward thru much of it
Maggie, I’ll be watching the Playoff games live, but with a book in my lap–as I always do.
Well, that was boring, but it’s Denver’s turn again, I guess. Now Carolina jumps out to a nice lead again. Arizona came back, with a score, but there’s a long way to go.
Rick, the Arizona vs. Carolina game looked a lot like last week’s Seahawks vs. Panthers game. Except Arizona didn’t come back.
I just have to type the first letter of my name of email address and the whole thing pops up under the box! I click on that and the entire line fills in!
As usual, bad officiating helped the Geldings win! It’s around half time and I’ve given up watching it! For most of the early game I watched bowling!
Bob, my sister says “The Fix was in for the Broncos.” Everyone will tune in to see Peyton play his last game.
Carolina looks like a Super Bowl winner to me.
Rick, Cam Newton, despite his problems, is the best young QB in the NFL.
Michael Strahan compared them to the Warriors and I agree. They beat the two best teams other than themselves and I will be shocked if they don’t win their first Super Bowl.
Denver’s defense won the game. Peyton looks done.
Jeff, I’m with you: Peyton looks like he’s at the end of his career.
