After last Sunday’s disappointing (but not unexpected) loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Bills fans hoped billionaire owner Terry Pegula would fire Head Coach Rex Ryan. Didn’t happen. The smart move would be to lose the last three games of the season to improve the quality of the upcoming Draft choices. But, Rex promises a win today over the 0-13 Cleveland Browns. How will your favorite NFL team do today?

I’m hopeful the same defense that beat the Cowboys (it sure wasn’t the offense) can beat the Lions this afternoon in a game the Giants need to win if they want to be taken seriously at all. The weather is very warm – 52 already – but there should be plenty of rain during the game so we’ll see.
Go, Bills! This is a can’t lose, right?

The 5-8 Saints play out the final games of a season where, had their defense shown up, they could easily be 9-4 and well in the hunt for the playoffs. Instead, they face the 5-7-1 Cardinals for a meaningless game Phoenix. I’m making Buffalo Chicken Dip and a sugar-free fruit crisp for the potluck at work. That, along with laundry and wrapping gifts, should keep me busy, but I dare say I’ll have the game on and watch as I can.
Deb, we’re hosting 18 family members in a few hours. Pizza, chicken wings, salad, fruit salad, apple pie and lemon cake are on the menu. Patrick and Katie flew in yesterday after some delays. Good luck with the laundry and the gift wrapping!
The Cowboys are on a downhill slide and they’ll never cover the spread against Tampa Bay. They might even lose again. The Texans should beat Jacksonville, but with the Texans, you never know. A loss wouldn’t surprise me.
Oh, come on. Jacksonville is barely one rung ahead of the Browns.

Maggie, I haven’t heard of “walkie-talkie=gate.” But my guess is that the New England Patriots are doing it! The Browns are doing what the Bills should have done this season: tank and get premium Draft Picks to rebuild!
I didn’t read the article yet, but it had to do with the Giants using walkie talkies against the Steelers, not that it helped. But I could be wrong.
George, I don’t believe any NFL team or coach would lose a game on purpose. I do admit some players don’t give their best when there’s nothing to play for but pride and next year, but that “next year” is a powerful motivator. I hope for their sake, the Bills play hard the rest of their games, and that the GM fires Ryan when the season is over. Of course, they have been much injured. A healthy Bills team would have won more games.
The Bills have had some high draft picks, at least compared to the Seahawks, but have used some of them unwisely.
The Seahawks are so up-and-down, they need the rest of a long week. They’re the first team to clinch a division, but only because the NFC West is so weak this year. Still, hope is alive for at least one playoff win.
Rick, the flaw in the NFL Drafting system is that bad teams–even with great draft positions–make bad personnel choices. The Bills have missed on dozens of All-Pro players choosing lesser players instead. A new management team is needed to turn the mediocrity of the Bills around. Going 17 straight years without a Playoff appearance is management and coaching malpractice!
But that’s a flaw at the team level, not in the system.

Man, I guess Bill was right to worry. Osweiler put them in a 20-8 hole but the Texans did pull it out.
I couldn’t believe the Bears came all the way back over the Packers, only to blow it because they couldn’t put the ball in the end zone and then allowed Jordy Nelson to get behind the defense for a 60 year completion. The Packers are damn lucky.
The Giants play in Philadelphia on Thursday night.
