“You know what I want to hear…You played it for her, you can play it for me!..If she can stand it, I can. Play it!”
Jeff, I enjoyed STARDUST MEMORIES although I might have made some other choices.
This looks like fun. Hope my library has it.
Patti, Will Friedwald explores all these songs in depth. Fascinating!
sounds good. I frequently play cole porter
Maggie, I listen to Cole Porter, too. Great music!
I question “Mack the Knife” as part of this group. I wonder how many young adults would even recognize any of these?
Rick, for folks who grew up in the 1940s and 1950s, these songs would be very familiar. Today, most young people don’t listen to 20th Century music.
Lush Life strikes me as the odd one out in this list.
Art, Will Friedwald defends his choices in STARDUST MEMORIES. “Lush Life” won’t be at the top of my list, either, but Friedwald makes a strong case for it.
