L. A. CHARGERS VS. BUFFALO BILLS

After the 47-3 beatdown in Baltimore last Sunday, the Buffalo Bills Brain Trust decided to bench QB Nathan Peterman (5 for 18, 24 yards, 2 interceptions) and start rookie quarterback Josh Allen against the mighty L.A. Chargers. I say “mighty” because last year the Chargers pummeled the Bills 54-24. Of course, Nathan Peterman’s FIVE INTERCEPTIONS in the First Half of that game contributed to the outcome of that game. The Bills Defense didn’t show up in Baltimore so today is their chance for Redemption. The Bills are 7 1/2 point underdogs at home. How will your favorite NFL team fare today?

    They won’t lose and that’s a guarantee!

Yes, you guessed it, the Giants are not playing until Monday night in Dallas. Eli better be a whole lot better than he was against Jacksonville last week – a game they certainly could have won – or we are looking at another lost year. Saquon Barkley is a bright spot and Odell Beckham looks healthy, but the offensive line and an aging quarterback do not a playoff team make. I’m not very confident.

No, the Cowboys are a mediocre team with a few (Elliott) great players. If Eli doesn’t screw up, the Giants should beat them handily. That’s a big if.

CORRECTION – it is SUNDAY night after all, not Monday. I guess I read it wrong. And they NEED to beat the hated Cowboys.

After last Sunday’s 48-40 loss to the Bucs, a game through which the defense apparently slept, the Saints need to right the ship and put a beatdown on the Cleveland Browns today in the Superdome. At this point, the Browns should be what used to be referred to in Boxing circles as “a tomato can”—i.e., easy to beat—but let’s see if the Saints’ Swiss-cheese defense allows that to happen! Also, the playoff picture is tightening up in the MLB, so I will undoubtedly be channel-surfing for baseball games today too.

Deb, the Bills played the Browns in a Pre-Season game and I came away impressed with the talent the Browns have accumulated over the past few years. If the Browns can put it together…trouble for the rest of the NFL!

Rick, the theory that teams will improve if they get premium picks in the NFL Draft can be disproved by the Buffalo Bills. They hadn’t made the Playoffs in 17 years! They were as bad at drafting players as they were playing NFL games.

Now, the REAL Monday night game: Seahawks – Bears. The mostly dismantled Seahawks will lose to the Bears, mostly due to the Bears defense. It’s gonna be a sad year for the team in Seattle. ** sigh **

21-18 Saints—yay! But the Saints didn’t win, the Browns gave the game away. Still, a check in the W column for the boys in black & gold.

Rick, last week both Cleveland and Pittsburgh missed game winning field goals that resulted in their tie game. Today, Minnesota’s kicker missed a game winning field goal. By the way, Cleveland’s kicker missed TWO extra points and a field goal today. I’m guessing he’ll be out of job tomorrow.
