You’re In My Heart: Rod Stewart With The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra

I walked through WAL-MART to pick up some medications when I saw an endcap with You’re In My Heart: Rod Stewart With The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. I immediately bought it and played it on my Rogue’s CD player on the way home. Wonderful! But, then I did some research and discovered that TARGET was offering a “Deluxe Edition” of You’re In My Heart: Rod Stewart With The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. So, I jumped in the Rogue and drove over to TARGET. I inched my way through the crowds of shoppers and found the Deluxe Edition. Seven more songs! My favorite Stewart songs would be A Dirty Old Raincoat Never Let You Down (not included here), Handbags and Gladrags (written by Mike D’Abo of Manfred Mann) and I Don’t Want to Talk About it (written by Danny Whitten of Crazy Horse and for whom Neil Young wrote The Needle and the Damage Done).
Not sure if I would like these versions but at least he leaves off Hot Legs and Do Ya’ Think I’m Sexy. And no standards he started doing in middle age to appeal to the easy listening crowd. But only one Faces song.

I was going to say, as a friend once did about Rod: no, I don’t think you’re sexy, OK?

We saw him in concert a few years ago (Jackie’s idea) and it wasn’t good, basically a glitzy Las Vegas act. And his voice is not what it was.

I guess I’d stick with Maggie May.

Jeff, Rod Stewart’s voice–like Joe Cocker’s voice–is an acquired taste. Rod sounds fine on this mix of songs, probably chosen not to tax what’s left of his voice.

You guys are so mean! My favorite Rod song is “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?” And it’s not here.

I really loved the early Rod Stewart, but after the mid-70s he really seemed to go astray. “Every Picture Tells a Story” remains one of the greatest of rock albums.

I do like Rod but You’re in My Heart is not one of my favorites.

I also like “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy” and I did.

Along with this album, Rod the Mod debuted his model railroad layout! He’s a big train fan and his setup is dazzling!

I like a lot of his songs: Maggie May, Tonight’s the Night, I Was Only Joking, Reason to Believe, etc.!
