NEW YORK JETS VS. BUFFALO BILLS

A few weeks ago the injury-riddled Buffalo Bills limped into the Meadowlands and came out on the losing end of a 20-17 Zach Wilson game. Fast forward to December 11 and the Jets face a much different Bills team. Some injured players are back in action, some of the younger players have more experience now. And when the Bills faced Mike White last season…they intercepted him FOUR times! The Bills are 10 1/2 point favorites. The weather forecast predicts cold rain and snowflakes. How will your favorite NFL do today?

After a heartbreaking loss last week (leading the Bucs 16-3, the Saints managed to give up 14 points in the last few minutes of the game to end up losing 17-16), the hapless 3-9 Saints have a merciful bye week. I’m sure some games will be on in our house, but I’ll be decorating the tree—including our Saints Super Bowl ornament from 2010. How long ago those days seem now!

Deb, Great Minds Think Alike! Diane and I will be putting up our Christmas tree during the Jets/Bills game. Diane has most of the house decorated for the Holidays. Patrick flies in on December 21 and Katie flies in on December 23. They both fly to their homes on December 28th.

The less said about today’s game the better. The Giants are 7 point underdogs to the high-flying Eagles at home today. I suppose one could hope that the predicted cold rain and wind will slow the Eagles down, but I am not expecting a good result. The Giants need to control the ball and with Barkley at far less than 100% and other injuries, I am not expecting it. I must say I have been impressed by the Jets’ improvement this year, especially in the first Bills game and that close loss to the Vikings.

When they said a “wintry mix: in Buffalo they weren’t kidding. The Jets are definitely a much better team this year, but the Bills are better.

The less said about the Giants, the better. Sadly, the Texans let the Cowboys come back on the last drive or we would have had the upset of the year.

Luck of the draw, I get the Bills game in the morning, with the Niners-Tampa to follow. So for a change, I get a break from the frantic craziness of the Red Zone – 7 games simultaneously in the morning slot! (except during commercial breaks). We’ve had wind & rain here this weekend, but it’s cleared up at the moment, so the 49ers rookie QB will maybe have a decent shot at beating Brady.
