CINCINNATI BEGALS VS. BUFFALO BILLS and DALLAS COWBOYS VS. SAN FRANCISCO 49ers

Today’s NFL Division games feature four teams that could make it to the Super Bowl. Last year, the Cincinnati Bengals did make it to the Super Bowl…and almost won it! The 49ers may have the best defense in the NFL and certainly the rookie phenom, Brock Purdy…who is everything to San Francisco’s chances to going to the Big Dance. But, don’t count the Cowboys out!

The Buffalo Bills are 4-point favorites, but on some betting sites, the line has moved to 5 1/2 points. The Bengals have an injured Offensive Line while the Bills have an injured Secondary.

The 49ers have won the last two meetings with the Cowboys and are favored by 4 points. I’m expecting two close games. Who do you think will win?

LSU golden boy, Bengals’ QB Joe Burrow (aka, “Joe Burreaux”), is the sentimental favorite in our house, but I think the Bills will be firing on all cylinders today. As for the Dallas-San Francisco game, all I can say is the Cowboys’ kicker had better have been working on his precision this week—you can’t miss FOUR points-after-touchdown (as he did in last week’s game, luckily for him a blowout) and expect to win or even beat the spread!

Deb, I have never seen a kicker–high school, college, or NFL–miss FOUR PATs in a row! Astonishing! But the Cowboys and 49ers have some history so I’m expecting a close game today. Everyone in Bills nation is nervous about the Bengals vs. Bills game. Joe Cool scares us!

Technically, he had missed FIVE points-after-touchdown in a row because he had missed the last one in Dallas’s previous game before missing four in a row in last week’s game. Either he’s injured and not telling anyone or he’s letting something get up in his head. Either way, he better come correct, as they say down here, for today’s game or he won’t have a job tomorrow.

Yesterday we got one terrific game and one snoozer I abandoned before halftime. We could easily get two great ones today.

Michael, the Giants over performed this season. Their limited roster just caught up with them. The Giants will be better next year and eager to take on the Eagles again. I’m hoping Mahomes’s injury is minor. Everyone wants to see the Chiefs at their best next week.

Don’t remind me, Michael. I knew the Giants were not going to win, but I hoped better than that pathetic outing. But overall, they had a great season. They finished with a winning record, they made the playoffs for the first time since 2016 and they went on the road and won their first playoff game since the last Super Bowl after the 2011 season. Next year should be better, but the problem is, they are in the strongest division in the NFL.

As for today, I hope the Bills have their act together better than they did against the Bengals in that suspended and then canceled game, let alone their win (barely) over the Dolphins. Otherwise, they are going down.

As long as the Cowboys lose, I’m happy. Go, Bills! Go, Niners!

Jeff, I’m proud of former Offensive Coordinator Brian Daboll who should win Coach of the Year for his improvement of the Giants. As you say, the Giants will be better next year. I totally agree with you: the Bills need to bring their “A” game this afternoon or the Bengals will be heading to Kansas City next Sunday.

Jeff, since I rarely pay much attention to the NFL until the playoffs I tend to forget who’s a fan of which team except for George and his Bills. So I apologize. Being a Giants fan can’t be a pleasant experience, but it could be worse–you could move to Atlanta and try to be a Falcons fan. I don’t even try. I just ignore them and steadfastly refuse to pay any attention. When the postseason arrives I just pick the team I like most, usually the Chiefs, and try to enjoy the games.

Michael, you have great taste in choosing the KC Chiefs. I think Mahomes is tremendous. I hope the Bills vs. Chiefs game happens next week…in Atlanta!

I’ve been trying to reach this blog since I got my new/used computer a week ago! I finally made it, though how I don’t know! Anyway, the games are all over and I can live with the results! I like the Bills but I also like the Bengals and it’s fine with me that they won! I dislike both the hated Cowpies and the hated 49ers but I’ve hated the Cowpies much longer so the 49er win is acceptable! I just don’t want SF to end up in the Superbowl. A Bengals-Eagles matchup would be fine by me!

Tuesday I might see that Otto movie with Tom Hanks. It’ll be tough because I’m not going to have any popcorn or candy. Maybe I can get by with nachos.

Bob, the Bills offense, defense, and Special Teams didn’t show up for the Bengals game. I like Burrow and the Bengals, but I also like Mahomes and the Chiefs. I can root for both teams. I spoke with Art Scott after the 49ers defeated Dallas and I’ll be rooting for his team against the Eagles next week. Diane’s Book Club read the book A MAN CALLED OTTO is based on.

Other than the Chiefs, none of the teams I was pulling for made it out alive this past weekend. I’m sorry for the Bills loss, George. Loved seeing the snow fall during the game, didn’t love seeing the Bills perform so lifelessly, something I’m too often used to seeing from both the Chiefs and the Cowboys.

It bummed me out, because if the Chiefs don’t make it I wanted a team that I could cheer for, which, of those remaining last weekend, was only going to be the Cowboys or Bills.

Carl, all four teams still in contention are easy to root for. Each has a story or a problem they’ve overcome to get this far.
