Diane decided it was time for home improvements so we had a new vanity, a new counter top, and a new Delta faucet installed in our first floor bathroom. Diane liked the results so much she had the remodeling guys install a new counter top, and a new Delta faucet, and a new bathroom floor in our upstairs bathroom. The installer told us: “I have to remove the toilet to install the flooring. If you want me to install a new toilet when I’m done with the flooring, I’ll install it for free.” Who could pass up that offer! Diane and I had a Kohler Cimerron toilet installed in our first floor bathroom a couple years ago and were impressed with the quality and the eco-friendly 1.4 gallon flush power technology so we went to Lowe’s an bought an “all in one box” unit. We’re also very impressed with the quality and style of the Delta faucets. If you’re planning on updating your bathroom or thinking about a total remodeling, we can highly recommend Kohler and Delta.
Now this is timely because we need to do this very thing in a bathroom. I just need to find someone to do it for an affordable price. Does you guy travel?
Our bathroom remodelers are strictly local, Patti. Of course, you and Phil could always move here (great bookstores!). Plenty of former GM workers have gone into the home improvement business. Craig’s List might help.
But is it low flow and does it have enough power?

The Kohler power flush technology is amazing, Jeff. Kohler promises that the Cimerron is a “plug-free” toilet. And it uses dramatically less water. Our water bill went down after we installed the first Cimerron and should go down further with the new Cimerron. We’re also big fans of Delta faucets. You might have to pay a little more, but you’re buying quality and reliability for decades.
When we replaced our toilets about three years ago, we bought Kohler, I don’t recall what model, but they are about four inches taller at the seat. Makes the on and off much easier and adds a little extra hydro to the flush. The new house has “regular height” toilets, and we’ll upgrade to the taller ones as soon as there’s the slightest hint of a need. As for faucets, when we remodeled the kitchen, we went with Moen. In the bathrooms, we still have the original 22 year old American Standard, but the work great, no leaks, so why change?
We’re pleased with the Kohler Cimerron and the Delta faucets, Rick. Moen and American Standard are quality products, too.
Oh, and for Patti, I think Angie’s List, while it does have a fee, is a better option than Craig’s list. Kate Diere gave us a one year subscription as a house warming gift for Portland, and we’ve already gotten good use from it.

I plan to redo the upstairs bathroom when I retire. A low flow toilet sounds right. Maybe a free-standing sink, too.
You can’t go wrong with Kohler and Delta, Bob. I don’t have an “handy” bone in my body so we farm out all the remodeling and fix-it jobs to workers who know what they’re doing (and have the Right Tools).
George, on a note completely unrelated to toilets and defecation, while I was perusing the shelves of a library bookstore a few days ago, I found a copy of the 1979 edition of Simak’s THEY WALKED LIKE MEN. A few minutes and forty cents later I went home with it, where it sits on my barely manageable TBR pile.
