HEART OF STONE [Netflix]

Gal Gadot (aka, Wonder Woman) stars in Heart of Stone, a spy thriller where Gadot’s character infiltrates MI6 in order to gain access to an evil arms dealer. Gadot really works for a shadowy organization called The Charter which has a quantum computer (aka, Artificial Intelligence) that gives accurate projections of the future.

Of course, other evil people want to gain control of the quantum computer so a series of fights, skirmishes, ambushes, and treachery result.

Heart of Stone was released by Netflix on August 11, 2023.  Within its first two days, the film was number one on the Netflix English-language list with 33.1 million views. If you’re in the mood for a thriller with plenty of action (and a thin plot) you might want to give Heart of Stone a try. GRADE: B+

We haven’t watched this yet, but probably will. And if not me, Jackie will for sure.

Speaking of action movies, she definitely recommends (all on Netflix) the French LOST BULLET, LOST BULLET 2, and AKA, all starring Alban Lenoir.

Jeff, I’ll check out Jackie’s recommendations on Netflix. It’s hard to believe the Strike is still going on. Everyone loses!

I have read more disappointment than otherwise with her recent telefilms (and aren’t nearly all films telefilms now?)…but anything that is better than LIONESS is welcome to that degree.

And it’s not as if YELLOWSTONE or the other work from the producer/writer is actually good…just not quite as blatantly stupid as (at least) the first two episodes of LIONESS.

Todd, I had the same reaction…and stopped watching. I didn’t post about LIONESS because two episodes isn’t enough sample size for a review in my estimation.

This sounds mighty like every other modern action movie. Extra-governmental agency, AI, arms dealer, etc. Reality has outstripped fiction at this point. Who could have dreamed up Trump and his cadre of goons, thugs, and crazies. Although I like Godot, I dropped Netflix a couple of years ago, not finding enough of interest to justify the cost.

Fred, the subscription services like Netflix face some tough months ahead as the Writers/Actors Strike continues. No new content to attract new subscribers…nothing new to keep current subscribers from dropping them. Netflix can put all the foreign content on their menu, but few have the appeal and success of SQUID GAME.
