With Halloween around the corner, I thought a moody, ambient CD like Coldplay’s Ghost Stories would fit with the season.
Ghost Stories is the sixth studio album by British rock band Coldplay. Co-produced by the band with Paul Epworth along with returning Mylo Xyloto producers Dan Green and Rik Simpson, it was released by Parlophone on May 2014. The album was recorded by the band throughout 2013 and 2014 at the band’s purpose-built home studios in London, England, and in Los Angeles. It features guest producers Avicii, Timbaland and Madeon, and the band’s frequent collaborator Jon Hopkins. The album was nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album at the 57th Grammy Awards and named Top Rock Album at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards.
Several media outlets claimed that Chris Martin had said that Ghost Stories was inspired by his split with his wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, in 2014. Are you a fan of Coldplay’s music? Are you fan of ghosts? GRADE: B+

Inspired by Qwyneth? Instead of being slimed, we’re apt to be gooped.
Qwyneth. (Fumble fingers)
Jerry, laugh all you want, but goop has made Gwyneth over $100 million!
Gwyneth, Jerry.
Coldplay’s music is a violation of the Geneva Convention, surely.
😜
Jeff, I admit I don’t listen to Coldplay much. But when I was looking for an album that would fit with the Halloween season, GHOST STORIES jumped out at me!
Coldplay? I know “Viva La Vida” from the radio; not a bad tune, but otherwise I couldn’t pick ’em out of a lineup. Ghosts? I haven’t seen any but my wife swears our younger daughter, at two, saw our elderly neighbour a couple of weeks after the neighbour died. Ghost stories? LeFanu, James (Henry and MR), Matheson, Stoker . . .
Where do people go to hear new (er) music nowadays? I guess I need a music streaming service.
Sirius has dozens of stations. I mostly listen to Little Stevens Underground Garage. Sometimes Deep Cuts or 1st Wave. Also whole channels devoted to Tom Petty, U2, Springsteen, Bob Marley.
Patti, I listen to Sirius/XM Radio when I’m on driving trips to Ohio or Boston. And I’m listening to it when Diane sends me out to run errands.
On this album, I like “Skyfull of Stars”, but my favorite song by Coldplay is “Adventures of A Lifetime”.
Deb, I’ll have to check out “Adventures of a Lifetime.”
My younger daughter liked them when she was a teen! Not something I’d pursue!
Bob, Patrick and Katie liked Coldplay which is why I have some of their CDs to listen to. Patrick and Katie are 100% into streaming their music now.
