Last week, after the LA Chargers got blasted by the Las Vegas Raiders 63-21, the owner of the Chargers fired the Head Coach and the General Manager. This week, the Buffalo Bills flew to the West Coast as 11 1/2 point favorites over the Chargers. Will the Chargers come onto the field with fire and fury? Or will the struggling Chargers struggle against the Buffalo Bills? We’ll find out tonight at 8:00 P.M. Eastern Time on the Peacock Network.

Another Sunday the Giants will not lose! (Yes, I know today is Saturday.) That’s because they are in for another Monday Night Football drubbing at the hands of the Eagles.
Jeff, both Katie’s flight and Patrick’s flight were On Time. Last year, Katie just flew into Buffalo before they closed the Airport for FIVE DAYS because of the Blizzard. Right now, we’re just getting some light rain. Temps in the 50s. What a difference a year makes! At this time in 2022, North Tonawanda had 52 inches of snow! Right now, we have ZERO!
Excellent. They had people at LaGuardia Airport each of the last two nights to talk to travelers and they were amazed at how smoothly it was going. The surmise is that travel is spread over 5 days this year so no one day got all of it. I guess we’ll see if today is worse. In 1986 we flew to San Francisco on Christmas Day to visit my parents. We went to New Orleans for Christmas in 2002-2003-2004, twice flying on the 24th and then the 22nd the last year.
Jeff, according to AAA, today is supposed to be one of the busiest travel days of the year. Plenty of flyers, but also millions of people driving the Christmas weekend because gas prices are 40 cents lower than they were in September.
Just checked back. In 1977 and 1982 we flew to California on Christmas Eve, in 1985 on Christmas Day (left at 9 am and got there at 11!). In 1995 it was Christmas Day again.
In general, Christmas Day flying was quiet and peaceful. Don’t know how it is these days.
Jeff, for the past three years Diane and I have flown to NYC on Thanksgiving with only minor delays. Apparently, Christmas is a good travel day, too.
My in-laws flew to see us on Christmas Day one year (I think it was in the early 1990s), and the airport was the emptiest I’ve ever seen.
As for football, the Saints played the Rams this past Thursday, losing 30-22. But this was a game that was 27-7 at halftime! If only the Saints had shown up for the first half the way they did in the second, they might have had a chance of winning! Even in a weak division like the NFC South, a 7-8 record ain’t gonna get a team too far.
Deb, I was rooting for the Saints on Thursday night, but the Rams got off to a fast start.
On the radio in the car I heard that the three NYC airports are quiet today. I guess that theory I heard that it was lighter for being spread over five days might have some validity to it. They also said that over 105 MILLION people would be driving 50 miles or more. Not us.
Jeff, Patrick couldn’t believe the Buffalo Airport was basically empty last night when I picked him up. He’s used to the busyness of JFK and Newark. Buffalo shuts down when the sun goes down. Diane had me running errands today and the local traffic was very heavy! I’m guessing the Thruway traffic is just as heavy!
Somehow I found Peacock via Concast a couple years ago when they were broadcasting early action from some of the golf majors. Without much trouble I connected to the Bills broadcast and am watching it now at 0-0. I don’t think this costs me extra, but who knows. Anyhow, Go Bills!
Art, the Bills won a squeaker 24-22 over the Chargers. They did not look like Super Bowl contenders tonight!
