I know and like everything here. Faves includes the Aretha songs (especially “Chain of Fools”), “Tell It Like It Is”, “What Does It Take”, and “Some Day We’ll Be Together”, but all the songs here evoke memories and joy. I wouldn’t turn off the radio for any of them.
Deb, THE CLASSIC RHYTHM + BLUES COLLECTION volumes have all featured great music from the Sixties. TIME-LIFE really hit the jackpot with these wonderful CDs!
Favorites? Dells, Supremes (although, at this point, I think Diana had split from Mary and Flo, and other singers performed backup–I could be wrong), Neville, Butler, Archie Bel, 4 Topsl–all winners. This one spans my late high school, early college years.
Fred, same here. I graduated from High School in 1967 and graduated from College in 1971. I listened to a lot of music over those years!
Yes, I know them, except “The Chokin’ Kind.”
Favorites? Chain of Fools, I Second That Emotion, What Does It Take, the Marvin and Tammi songs, etc.
Baby, I’m for Real is on the Motown collection.
Jeff, whoever put THE CLASSIC RHYTHM + BLUES COLLECTION volumes together did a really nice job!
All familiar. And I guess I was still able to hear lyrics cause I can sing along.
Patti, I heard these songs so many times back in the Sixties, I knew all the words of all these songs by heart!
Jackie Wilson is the best one in my humble, correct opinion!
Bob, Jackie Wilson is an underrated performer! I listen to his GREATEST HITS CD on a regular basis!
It’s a better than decent anthology…but I come across different audio than you, George, as “Grazing in the Grass” even more than the others, has been hard to miss…though it helps that THE LATE SHOW/COLBERT band likes to play it during commercial breaks.
Todd, The Late Show Band only has 10 more months together before Sundance pulls the plug.
Oh, CBS is doing so on behalf of Skydance and Drumpf.
