The 3-13 NY Jets take on the 11-5 Buffalo Bills in a meaningless game. This will be the last Regular Season game in 53 year old Highmark Stadium. The new Bills stadium is being constructed across the street from the old stadium (which will be demolished and turned into a parking lot). The Bills are 9 1/2 points favorites even though Josh Allen and several other starters are going to “rest” instead of play in this game. I’m hoping the Jets are resting, too, and nobody gets injured.
How will your favorite NFL do today in the last game of the season?
It would be something if the hapless Jets could pull out a victory (as the mighty Seahawks did today) but if I were betting, I’d put my dough on the Bills!
Bob, congratulations on that victory over the 49ers. The Seahawks are the favorites now to win the NFC. The Bills have to win three Playoff games–on the road–to get to the Super Bowl. Not likely…
Because of the current win-loss records within the NFC South, the 6-10 Saints find themselves in the position of Kingmaker or spoiler (depending on your point of view) in their game against the 7-9 Falcons in Atlanta today. Yesterday, the Buccaneers beat the Panthers so that both teams have 8-9 records. If the Saints win today, the Buccaneers will win the NFC South because they hold the two-team tie-breaker against the Panthers. However, if the Falcons win today (giving them the same 8-9 record as the Bucs and the Panthers), the Panthers will win the NFC South because they hold the three-team tie-breaker against the Bucs & the Falcons. Got that? As always I’ll be rooting for the Saints who seem to have finally (unfortunately, too late in the season) found their groove and have won their last three games in a row. But win or lose for the Saints, the team that wins the NFC South today will go into the playoffs with a losing record and will likely be eliminated in the first round.
Let’s be honest, Deb. None of them deserve to be in the playoffs.
Jeff, that’s a really weak division.
Deb, the NFC South is a caldron of chaos!
Some are rooting for the 3-13 Giants to beat the hated Cowboys, but as satisfying as that would be, it would better serve to lose.
I would not be shocked either way. I would be shocked if the Bills lost to the Jets.
Jeff, if the Bills win today, they’ll be winning with backup players. The starters are all resting for next week’s Playoff game.
The Ravens have the very last game of the season, Sunday night against the Steelers. Winner wins the division and gets in the playoffs. Neither team is that good. The Ravens, shockingly, have a poor defense — and defense has traditionally been their strong point. Receivers can generally get open against them, which would give an edge to Aaron Rodgers, except that the Steelers receiving corps is weak as well. No idea what’s going to happen. If Lamar Jackson can play through his sore back and score more points than the defense gives up, then I’ll have a good night. I hate the night games. A loss during the day, I’m grumpy for a couple hours. A loss at night, I’m still grumpy when I go to bed.
Jeff, I think the Ravens will win tonight. Aaron Rodgers has no one to throw to.
Since the chargers left, I root for other teams to beat them, but I do like Justin Herbert so have pulled for them the last couple of games.
Maggie, today is a confusing day in the NFL because some teams are “resting” starters…and other teams are playing their starters.
I’m not at all surprised that the Giants beat the Cowboys. Let’s not forget if they hadn’t blown it in the last two minutes they’d have won two or three more games, so they were never quite as bad as the record indicated.
The Jets, on the other hand, suck.
Jeff, I watched the Jets vs. Bills game and quickly discerned that the Jets were not in the mood to play football yesterday.
