Since the Buffalo Bills are no longer in contention for the AFC Championship this season, my interest in these games have fallen precipitously. With Bo Nix’s elimination from the Championship game because of his ankle injury, the New England Patriots are favorited by 5 1/2 points. Drake Maye is way better than Jarrett Stidham so my guess is that the Patriots will be headed to the Super Bowl…again.
I like the LA Rams but I’m going to have to go with Cap’n Bob’s mighty Seattle Seahawks–favored by 2 1/2 points–who will be headed for another Super Bowl…again. Who do you think will win these games?
Yeah—I’m with you: Patriots and Seahawks.
Meanwhile, we’re preparing for the big chill. Right now, it seems as if the ice storm is staying about 50 miles north of us, but our temperatures will be (for southeastern Louisiana) incredibly cold (tonight’s wind chill is predicted to be 8 degrees above zero…brrrr).
Deb, BRRR indeed! We woke up to -7 degree temps. We might hit a high of 5 degrees today. And, the snow is falling. We’ll have over a foot of fresh snow on the ground when we wake up tomorrow! Stay warm!
Say what you want about “we’ll have the backup ready,” they won’t. The guy took TWO snaps all year. In 1991, Jeff Hostetler had played, and he won the last two games of the season as well as two playoff games before beating the Bills 20-19 in the Super Bowl.
So yeah, even though I dislike them, the Patriots for the win.
On the other side, the Seahawks look almost unbeatable at the moment, so gotta go there.
Jeff, I listen to Sports Betting radio shows when I’m driving around. These clowns try to talk themselves–and the listeners–into betting on the LA Rams. Since I suspect most sports games are fixed, I’m not betting.
South Florida is still warm through tomorrow, Deb, and even then will not be “cold” by any normal standard – low 60s early in the week, upper 60s later.
Now New York, on the other hand, forget it. They are in the deep freeze already – three homeless people were found dead on the streets Saturday morning – and it will be in the teens and 20s for the next week plus, so if they do get the projected 10-12 inches, forget about it.
So glad we’re down here.
The last big snow ❄️ we had was February 1, 2021. We were home that winter, of course, and waiting for the word on the first Covid vaccine, which we got on February 4, after getting a guy who works in our building to help dig out my car so we could drive to the hospital.
Jeff, the snow keeps falling and disaster struck: Big Orange sprang a leak and all the gas leaked out. I called our snow blower repair man, Bud, and he took Big Orange away…but didn’t say when he’d bring it back. Certainly not in time for this snow storm. My neighbor snow blowed our driveway yesterday. But…will he do it tomorrow? Will Diane and I have to shovel a foot of snow? Stay tuned…
Nooooo!!! Not Big Orange!! Say it ain’t so.
Deb, I’ve been using Big Orange for 10 years now and this is the first time it’s ever sprung a leak. And, it had to happen just before a snowstorm will drop a foot of snow on us! Good thing we still have shovels…
Oh, NOOOO!
The humanity!
NYC closed schools for tomorrow in favor of remote learning (sic). But a lot of kids need open schools for the free breakfast and lunch, plus many don’t have heat at home.
Jeff, same here. Many schools have announced they’ll be closed on Monday. I feel sorry for all the people in the South who have lost power because of all the ice on the power lines.
I have no preference for the games today.
I’m also not having to put up with snow, thankfully. Sorry to hear about big orange springing a leak.
We’re going to the little league field Larry umpires at with Blondie who has retired from bringing back balls from batting practice. I set the balls on a stand for him to hit and also walk around the field picking dandelions. I see very few bees around and wait till they’re done before picking dandelions near them. There’s a lot of clover for them. The best part of that is watching Blondie run around. Larry has a nice sized yard with a tangerine tree that we’ve been picking for weeks and still had tons of fruit in various stages of ripening. Larry goes to Palm springs Tues for a senior softball tournament so I will be Blondie sitting. Last night she didn’t do a shoenapping, which is a disappointment to me. In my wildest imagination I never would have thought having my shoes taken around the house and slept on would bring such joy. Thankfully she doesn’t chew on them.
Maggie, we’re dealing with the aftermath of the snowstorm today. Our current temp is 11 degrees. We’re suppose to get another couple of inches of snow today to add to the foot of snow on the ground.
Warning from Jackie: you and Diane are TOO OLD to be shoveling. So don’t.
What Jackie said. Get some neigborhood whippersnapper to shovel you out — preferably one under 60.
Jerry, the Good News is that our neighbor Johnny just called and offered to snow blow our driveway! Good neighbors are golden!
Jeff, we’re hoping our neighbor Johnny will snow blow our driveway. Also, we don’t plan to go anywhere today, so there’s no rush on clearing the snow.
It’s chilly here but bright and sunny! No snow or rain! As for the playoffs, of course I’m rooting for the Seahawks! I’m not a fan of either Denver or New England, but I hate Denver more, so I’ll be pulling for the Pats! Sorry to hear Big Orange sprung a leak! Every year, some old geezer has a coronary while shoveling snow! You’ve been warned!
Bob, congratulations on the Seahawk’s going to the Super Bowl. We’ll be rooting for them to beat the Patriots!
