Jeff, I was never so proud of Western NY sports fans than this tribute to our Canadian friends. Trump has insulted the Canadians–our closest neighbors–and caused both Canada and the U.S. significant economy harm.
One (of many things) thing that has always bothered me about Trump’s “51st State” idiocy is this: Canada has TEN provinces. Wouldn’t they be ten states, rather than one? (Of course, that would ruin Trump’s purpose in annexing it.)
We have 5 or 6 states with under a million population, with Wyoming at under 600,000. Ontario has over 16,000,000 people, more than all but 4 states (California, Texas, Florida, New York). Quebec is over 9,000,000, with only 11 larger states, and British Columbia and Alberta are over 5,000,000, more people than half the states. Wouldn’t they be worthy of a state of their own?
Jeff, believe me: the Canadians want NOTHING to do with Trump’s plan to make their country the 51st State! It would be like making Brooklyn part of Mexico! Idiocy!
Well, first off, Canada will be the 51st State, because that’s what I said, and I’m a doctor, I heal people.
All those hick towns like Manitoba and Greenland and Alaska in Canada will learn to love being part of the 51st State of Being Drumpf.
Also, we want to make sure we can tear down all those damned windmills and solar thingies that kill all the birds and whales, so we can kill the whales for oil and whale burgers. Nobody ever said said solar-thingies till I said it. Also, England needs to give us Wales, because I want Wales-burgers, too. We can feed the birds to the whales. Nobody has a better, uh, Brain than me. Whale-burgers are uh, Brain food.
All the states will be Trump States #s 1-51, maybe Greenland is 52. And we’ll call it DJT GreenDrumpfLand, since that sounds better to everyone.

Jerry, one of my friends owns a bookstore in Niagara Falls, I’ve literally bought thousands of books from his father over the years. When his father retired, Jeff took over The Book Corner and has been operating it successfully for a decade. But when Trump insulted Canadians and launched his absurd bit to make Canada the 51st State, Canadians stopped coming to Western NY (and the rest U.S.). Jeff told me he lost 30% of his customer base because of Trump’s alienation of the Canadians!
Gotta confess – I got a little misty over this one.
Nice to see folks with empathy come together for a touching moment like this. I wish more Americans acted like this.
Beth, I got misty, too! Buffalonians and Canadians have had a friendly relationship for over 200 years. Trump ruined everything with his insults and threats to make Canada the 51st State. His terrible actions have hurt both countries. But the people on both sides of the border still respect one another…as evidenced by this touching story.
