I’m a sucker for books like A Lifetime of Fiction: The 500 Recommended Books for Ages 2 to 102. William Patrick Martin used librarian book lists, book awards, best book reading lists, and book reviews to generated these lists. This is a great resource for parents looking for good books to have their children read. You’ll find plenty of familiar books here, but some surprise titles, too. Well worth a look! GRADE: A

I am a sucker for them too. Will look to see if my library ordered this.
Patti, William Patrick Martin has another book of non-fiction recommendations due to be published in a few weeks. I’ll be reviewing that volume, too.
Ditto. I love to look through books like this because they always generate lists of books I want to read.
Jeff, there are plenty of books here to generate lists. You’ll like this book.
I wonder what is meant by (from the cover) “Most recommended reads”? Recommended by whom, when and where? I like lists, but I need to know a bit more before I go off and get a book of them.
Rick, William Patrick Martin used award lists, librarian lists, review lists, etc. to compile the 500 recommended titles. The book is a browser’s delight!
Besides which, my library does not have it.
Rick, just ask the librarians to buy A LIFETIME OF FICTION. The librarians here buy everything I ask them to. And, I suspect, the librarians would be interested in a book like A LIFETIME OF FICTION.
They’re not quite so flexible or accommodating here, they look at the likely circulation life and number vs. admin cost of buying, cataloging, etc.
Rick, I would be willing to bet the librarians would use a book like A LIFETIME OF FICTION for collection development and professional development. Ask…they can only say “no” and they might say “yes.”
Hi George,
Thanks for your kind words about my book.
Rowman & Littlefield has just released the nonfiction sequel. It’s called “The Mother of All Booklists: The 500 Most Recommended Nonfiction Reads for Ages 3 to 103.”
