Man, I loathed ALLY MCBEAL with its vacuous yuppie characters.
Vonda Sheppard’s music was pretty good though. I don’t think the writers realized how obnoxious the characters were. Nearly all of them.
Patti, ALLY MCBEAL was another David E. Kelley (no relation) creation.. He also created The Practice (1997–2004), Boston Legal (2004–08), Picket Fences, Chicago Hope, Boston Public, Harry’s Law, Big Little Lies, and Mr. Mercedes.
Indeed. David Kelley was easily the most overrated producer/creator/showrunner of his heyday. L. A. LAW, for example, improved as he stepped away. Kelley was the king of rancid twee.
Todd, as I pointed out, there is NO relation between me and David E. Kelley. Yet, Kelley seems to possess the Kelley Luck which allows him to produce more and more TV series.
You’ll note, George, how little-employed he is now….then again, he probably made his pot of money, and it’s tough to spread one’s preciousness over so many projects.
Todd, TV tastes have changed. The proof of this is CBS cancelling BLUEBLOODS even though the ratings are solid.
I suspect Selleck and company are ready to move on, there. I doubt anyone’s worried about the electric bill.
Fred, I do like Vonda Shepard’s music.
No, just no.
Jackie is a big fan of Vonda Shepard’s two Ally McBeal-related CDs, but I had no idea she did a Christmas CD too. Not for us.
And yes, what Patti said about the characters.
I never watched ALLY MCBEAL. Did I luck out?
It wasn’t intolerable, as it had a decent cast. But it was the epitome of rancid twee, too often.
Jerry, I have all the music CDs to ALLY MCBEAL and listen to them regularly. I’m a big Vonda Shepard fan! The TV show…ho, hum.
Never saw the show! No interest in the music!
