The surprising 9-3 Buffalo Bills take on the mighty 10-2 Baltimore Ravens today. The Ravens have won 8 straight games. The Bills are 6-point underdogs at home. The weather will be balmy for December in Buffalo: 45 and sunny. There might be a bit of a wind problem, however. How will your favorite NFL team perform today?
I think my team will do well — which will be a problem for your team.
Seriously, unless the Ravens have an extreme off day, this will be a good test for the Bills to see how they might do in the playoffs. We all know about the Bills’ easy schedule, but to get to a 9-3 record is still impressive. They will at least have to hang with the Ravens, though. If this game is one of the Ravens’ blowouts, that will hurt the Bills, make them look like they can’t play with the good teams. They have to keep it close.
And of course the Bills could win — any given Sunday, as they say. But the Ravens were mediocre last week and still beat the 49ers. That’s why I say I feel the Ravens will win unless they just come out really flat on both sides of the ball.
I’m looking forward to seeing what both defenses have planned to try and stop these two dynamic young quarterbacks.
Jeff, Greg Roman, the Raven’s Offensive Coordinator, used to be the Bills’s Offensive Coordinator until Rex Ryan fired him (another dumb move). The Bills’s Offensive will have to put up at least 21 points to stay with the Raven’s potent scoring. Turnovers might be the key to this game if the Bills are to pull off the upset.
Roman — the players call him G-Ro — has done a great job for us. Too great. He’ll probably be gone next year, a head coach somewhere.
Jeff, there will be plenty of NFL coaching openings available if Roman choses to leave Baltimore.
I am rooting for the Bills. Like the Lions, it’s been too long.
Patti, thanks for the support! The Bills still need another year–a Good Draft and some key Free Agent signings–to really contend in the AFC East.
It is yet another Sunday when the Giants absolutely, 100% positive, are guaranteed not to lose! But Jeff, you ask, then how come these non-losing Giants have lost 8 in a row? Because they suck. The non-losing Sundays include a Thursday loss to New England and a bye.
Oh. and they will be losing Monday night in Philadelphia, with Maggie’s favorite Eli Manning back at quarterback for the night.
Jeff, the Giants need to hire a better Head Coach.
Because the Giants aren’t playing today we’re getting a better game – San Francisco at New Orleans. And after the Jets and the Dolphins, the doubleheader game is Kansas City at New England.
Jeff, we’ll be rooting for the Chiefs!
Seahawks vs. Rams in L. A. Should be a good one.
Rick, the Seahawks should beat the Rams with ease.
A marquee match-up in the Superdome today as the 10-2 Saints take on the 10-2 49-ers. This should be a great game. The Saints have the NFC South sewn up, but they’re looking for home-field advantage and a possible bye week in the playoffs as the regular season continues.
Fun family news: as an early Christmas present, the twins are taking John to the Superdome to see the Saints play the Colts on December 16–the Monday Night Football game. [They asked me if I wanted to go, but that’s a school night for me (Christmas break doesn’t start until December 20), so I declined.]
Very cool. Go, Saints!
Jeff, the Bills look sluggish as the Ravens take an early 10-0 lead.
Deb, what a great Christmas present! Too bad you couldn’t make it a complete family event.
I was hoping the Saints would beat the 49ers today, but no such luck. Now the Seahawks have to beat the Rams to stay even in the NFC West. Darn.
Rick, the Rams are an up-and-down team. I’m guessing tonight they’ll be “down” and the Seahawks will win.
Nope, Rams are charging hard, Seahawks look pathetic, plus they’re kicker is so bad he can’t make extra points.
Rick, you’re right. The Seahawks lack energy in this game. And the Rams look desperate.
I’m sure Deb is upset, but what a finish in New Orleans! And the Bills had a chance to tie it at the end too.
I think the Saints’ failed two-point conversion early in the game flavored the entire way the rest of the game played out because instead of being up by two the Saints were always technically down by two, no matter who had the lead. I thought it was an odd decision to go for two points in the first quarter of the game—but if it had succeeded, the whole game might have rolled out differently. Oh well, at least LSU got a decisive victory last night!
Rick is upset too.
Jeff, the Bills struggled with the Ravens, but they kept Lamar Jackson under control. The Bills Offense needs some serious work in the off-season.
The Ravens are such a complete team this year, that when Lamar has a good game, they’re untouchable; and when he doesn’t have a good game, they win anyway.
But yes, the Bills showed they could play with a good team.
Jeff, the Buffalo Bills are a year away from being a true contender in the AFC. Right now, they’re over-achieving given the talent and youth on the roster. Congratulations on a solid win! I’ll be rooting for the Ravens in the Super Bowl!
