Comic book companies like DC and MARVEL love crossovers. Well, this is one of the strangest crossovers I’ve encountered: Batman meets the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Yes, Shredder shows up with his menacing Foot Clan. Shredder is stealing all the high tech in Gothem City…but why? Batman and the Turtles start off battling each other, but of course they come to their senses and start to work together to solve the mystery. As you should know by now, I’m a fan of these silly DC Animated feature-length movies. Some of them are very dark, but Batman VS. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles provides much lighter fare. If you’re looking for Summer escapism, I recommend the clever Batman VS. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Cowabunga, dude! GRADE: B+
Not for me! Gotham!
Still, I find it hard to believe how much stuff I would have liked when I was young that has appeal to me now! I mean, heck, I was a comic fan, collector, and fanzine publisher in the comic genre! Where’s my sensawonda? Am I really this thorny or are your tastes just really bad?
Bob, I prefer to think my tastes are “inclusive.” Of course, Diane thinks I have no taste and that I’m just a hoarder!
I meant have NO appeal to me now! I’m a hoarder, too, but not of bad cartoons!
If Sam and Dean Winchester can have a crossover with Scooby-Doo and the gang, why not Batman and the TMNT? As you say, George, crossovers can be clever. And fun.
Jerry, I loved that SCOOBY-DOO crossover on SUPERNATURAL! Fun, indeed!
I’m with Rick (I’m sure on this one). No thanks.
Jeff, DC Animated features like BATMAN VS. TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES appeal to the 12-year-old in me. Silly Summer fun!
Come on. Do you really watch all this stuff, or just buy it?
Michael, I actually buy AND watch this stuff. Most of the DC Animated features are under 90 minutes so they’re quick entertainment viewing.
No thanks.
Hat tip to Jeff.
Rick, Summer is the silly season to indulge in fluff like BATMAN VS. TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES.
I’ll have to note, this one seems a long way from MASK OF THE PHANTASM. The TMNT never did much for me.
Bob was pointing out you typo “Gotham” in your text, I think. (An old comics collector can have a button pushed thus!).
(I Have been amused when, in the DC cartoons I’ve caught on occasion on HBO, when Kal-El all but spits about “Magic!” as Billy Batson’s alter ego swoops in to take care of it…)
