BOUCHERCON 2011: THE BAD

Yes, I know the Renaissance Grand Hotel is an older hotel. But no Wi-Fi in the hotel rooms (other than a bogus connector that doesn’t work with an iPad) is inexcusable. The hotel needs to upgrade pronto. If I can get Wi-Fi on a plane, I should be able to get it in my hotel room. The Wi-Fi that was available in the Lobby and (for some people) on the Mezzanine was hard to access. And, once logged on, the network was slow, slow, slow. That needs to be upgraded, too. And, I admit I’m spoiled, but I can’t understand why a classy hotel like the Grand has toilets three inches off the floor. Very annoying!

Once you get used to the “Comfort Height” toilets, it’s hard to go back, Jeff. Actually, I think Steve was well-behaved (for him) at the St. Louis BOUCHERCON.

No, Jeff, Steve is there because, with his famous Stilwell Squat, he was uniquely equipped to comfortably use those damnable low-rise porcelain appliances. Right, George?

I assumed his picture was there because he needs to be upgraded, or was “slow, slow, slow”. But I’d forgotten the 3 inches off the floor routine he has…

In our SoCal house, when we replaced the toilets, which died of old age, we put in the slightly taller ones which we really liked. We’ll do the same here when we stop bleeding money from the buying furniture, including bookcases, major appliances (so far: washer, dryer, water heater) and re-landscaping and all.

Actually, I had more problems walking around the terminals with my old knee, Drongo. I can’t wait until next summer to get the other knee replacement. Technology is great!
