By the time you’re reading this, Diane and I will be on a flight to Baltimore for the first leg of our journey to BOUCHERCON in New Orleans. If all goes well, we should be landing in the Big Easy around dinnertime. I’ve been to New Orleans three times (but not since Katrina) while this is the First Time for Diane. Our son Patrick will attend BOUCHERCON, too! The attraction of BOUCHERCON is the people. We have dinner plans with Beth and Joe and Art Scott. I’m sure we’ll have brunch with Bill Crider and the Myersons. And plenty of conversations with Maggie Mason, Ted Hertel, Marv Lachman, and other old friends. The highlight of this visit to New Orleans will be meeting Deb and her husband! Fun, food, and friends! It doesn’t get better than this! Will we see you at BOUCHERCON?
For George, his family and all the others:
Have fun!
I’m sure you’ll have a fantastic time.
Sadly NOLA (as they call it and praise it on German travel forums) has never been on my routes, though we planned to visit it when we were in Nashville – the family just kept us too long there so we had to cut short our trip, couldn’t see all that we had planned …
Wolf, thanks for the kind wishes! BOUCHERCON has always been fun for me!
I’ve stated before why I’m not going! Too bad the city is run by asshats! Have fun, though!
Bob, for me BOUCHERCON is all about the people. I can’t wait to see Beth and Maggie, Art and Bill, the Meyersons, etc.! And, to finally meet Deb!
We went past Lee Cirole on the streetcar and the General is still there.
Just saying.
It is brutally humid. We spent today walking around the Garden District with Jeff and Ann Smith.
Lunch at Parasol’s. Yum.
Jeff, Diane, Patrick, and I loved having dinner with you and Jackie and the Smiths! This is what BOUCHERCON is all about!
Good grief, Bob, you’re just being ridiculous. Get over it.
Looking forward to seeing you and Diane, George; I wish it could be more than an early Saturday breakfast though. I’m also sorry events prevent Patti and Phil from attending, but I’d love it if Jeff & Jackie and Bill & co. could also meet up for beignets and cafe au lait on Saturday morning. (Sorry if I missed anyone–not sure who’s going to be there.)
Edited to add: it’s my schedule that’s preventing a dinner or later meet-up. If Boucheron was last week or next week, I’d have several evenings free–but this week is crazy and my New Orleans chauffeur (aka, husband) is in Houston until Friday. Quelle dommage!
Deb, we’re just happy to meet you on Saturday! Diane and I are really looking forward to meeting your chauffeur, too!
Deb, the Meyersons will join us. I’ll talk to Bill Cirder in New Orleans.
Enjoy.
Jerry, BOUCHERSON is plenty of fun. Maybe you can join us in 2018 when BOUCHERCON shows up in Jacksonville!
I’m sure you’ll have a great time. In your remarks, you didn’t mention the book room, maybe you’ll find something there? Are you going to ANY panels, or is it all schmoozing?
Rick, we arrived safe and sound in New Orleans. Plenty of free books! And, I like this new system where you get to choose the books you want. I’m still looking at the panels offered during this BOUCHERCON. I’m sure I’ll attend a few of them.
George – I had a membership and plans to go there and sell collectible paperbacks and the like. When my job collapsed and I took the new job (and a second mortgage) that all disappeared. Have fun and look out for Bill. I eagerly await your convention report!
Scott, I wish you could have attended BOUCHERCON. I saw Bill briefly and hope to take him to brunch or dinner in the few days. But, Bill Crider is a popular guy with a packed Dance Card!
I’m not getting over anything, Rick. When agenda-driven pc asshats try to shape society to their ends I refuse to go along. There are a lot of organizations today boycotting North Carolina because of bathroom gender rulings, and I don’t hear a lot of complaints about them. I’m taking a stance, too, even if it’s one lonely voice in the wilderness of apathy.
I’m glad to hear the statues are still there, Jeff, but unless a legal ruling comes down to stop the stupidity the asshats will have their way.
Bob, I admire your stand. I’m always uneasy when people try to rewrite History.
