The Bills committed 17 penalties in their loss to the Giants last week. Head Coach Rex Ryan “promises” the coaching staff will “clean things up” in time to take on the Tennessee Titans. We’ll see. The Bills lead the NFL with 58 penalties in four games. Not good. I’ll be flying back from the BOUCHERCON in Raleigh so I’ll miss the game unless I can find a sports bar in the Baltimore Airport (where I have a 2-hour layover). How will your favorite NFL team do today?
Great to see you at B’con, George. I hope you have a good trip home. I don’t even know who Dallas is playing, but the Texans have already humiliated themselves back on Thursday.
Bill, it was great seeing you and meeting Angela! Hope to see you in New Orleans next year.
Wow–if it’s going to be in the Big Easy next year, we HAVE to meet up!
Deb, Diane and I would love to take you and your husband out to dinner next September. You pick the restaurant!
Last week’s overtime win against Dallas was a bright spot in what had been an unrelentingly grim season thus far for the Saints. Today the boys in black and gold travel to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles. Both teams have identically anemic 1-3 records, so we may be looking at a battle for the bottom this afternoon. Anyway, I’ll be looking for MLB playoff games as the day progresses.
Deb, the Bills eked out a 14-13 win over the Titans. Next week, the Cincinnati Bengals will make quick work of the struggling Bills.
Like Bill, I have no idea who the Giants are playing today. Great seeing you this weekend and hope last night’s pizza met with your exacting standards.
Jeff, tell Jackie “The New Yorker” pizza was superb! It was great seeing you again. Hope we all make it to New Orleans!
I see the Giants are playing the lousy 49ers tonight. Of course, they lost to them at home last time so they need to play a lot better this year.
Jeff, Art Scott can’t be happy with the performance of the 49ers this year.
The Giants seem to be handling the Niners just fine at halftime. I’m disappointed the Seahawks lost, but I said the Bengals would be tough. The NFC West was the toughest division in the NFL just a couple of years ago, with the Niners and Seahawks on top. How quickly things change.
Rick, the NFL wants constant change in its divisions. You’re right: the NFC West was the class of the League. Now, not so much.
The Seahawks play the Bengals, and will have their hands full. It’s raining and cool, so I might be in and able to watch, but I just got the latest Jeffrey Siger novel from the library and am eager to read it, so who knows. For some reason, not involving team performance, I seem to have lost interest in sports over the last month or two. I did watch the last 10 minutes of the Ducks game, plus the lame overtime, last evening. I tried to watch some baseball, but it didn’t hold my interest.
So I’ll probably curl up with the book and while away the afternoon without the blather of sports announcers who seem to think they need to fill every second of air time with their inept “analysis” and prognostications of every play, call and situation. Not to mention I’ll miss the hundreds of commercials.
Rick, everyone at BOUCHERCON was asking: “Where’s Rick?” You were right about the Seahawks having their hands full with the Bengals. The Bills play the Bengals next week.
Great getting to spend so much time with you. Also thanks for coming to my panel. I needed the boost of some friendly faces.
Patti, it was great to see you and Phil and Megan again. And, I’m glad you got to meet Richard Moore. He is a great storyteller! I loved your panel. You’re a wonderful moderator!
The Seahawks had an early game and I slept very late, so I missed their humiliating defeat. Stupid penalties did them in again.
Bob, everyone at BOUCHERCON wanted to know when you’re coming to a BOUCHERCON so we can pose for an OWLHOOT photo with you!
Deb, Bill Crider and I were talking about you this afternoon. Apparently a lot of people came up to Bill during the convention and told him they read his blog every day but never comment. He said, “If it wasn’t for you and Deb and a few other people. ..”.
Bill was a very popular person this week. We definitely want to meet you next September. They are expecting The Big Easy to be a huge draw.
Oh–I (with husband in tow because I don’t drive in N.O.) would love to meet up with Bill and you & Jackie, George & Diane, and Patti & Phil. It seems to me that there was a plan (perhaps I was just going to meet Patti) to meet up in New Orleans in 2012, but Hurricane Isaac put pay to that!
Deb, all the folks you mention plan to attend the BOUCHERCON in New Orleans. We all want to meet you! You’ve become a legendary commentator!
Jeff, it was great to see all the excitement Bill Crider created at BOUCHERCON. Just think of what will happen next year if Deb shows up!
