Welcome back! Thanks to Patrick, the blog lives again! Things are still not quite back to Normal, but I’ll be tweaking the blog to restore it to it’s former fun state. Please be patient.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier reunites Captain America with Nick Fury and the Black Widow of SHIELD. Samuel L. Jackson is his usual gruff self. Scarlet Johansson is bodacious as usual. Anthony Mackie plays an effective role as The Falcon (the first Marvel African-American superhero) in some eye-popping flying scenes. There are several surprises in this movie so I don’t want to spoil them with too much information. If you love action, Captain America: The Winter Soldier has plenty. Excellent cast, intelligent script, and I can’t wait for the sequel. GRADE: A
I really want to see this. I hope to see it in 3-D in the theater instead of on the small screen in my living room, but who knows?
Scar Jo is everywhere!
Bill, we saw the 2-D version because it was at a more convenient time than the 3-D version. But I’m tempted to go back and see the 3-D version
Jeff, Scarlett has a movie coming out in August called LUCY. The trailer looked fabulous!
Check out the trailer for Under the Skin with Scarlett. Looks interesting.
Glad the blog is back, George, it’s been missed. It sure took a lot longer than you, or we readers, expected. I guess Patrick had to do it long distance, but with restoring back-ups, that shouldn’t have been a problem. I can restore my entire iMac, every file, every folder, every image, in about 3 hours from the backup, so there must be some other element that caused the delay.
I haven’t even seen the first Spiderman film, nor the Avengers film, so I’m way behind on these Marvel movies. The only one I have seen is the Ironman one. I do like the looks of the forthcoming Godzilla movie, however.
Thanks, Steve. I’m heading there now.
Rick, they showed us the trailer to GODZILLA before CAPTAIN AMERICA started. Very cool!
I thought this would be good from the trailer, though one can be mislead sometimes. And I thought that was the Falcon.
Randy, you will enjoy CAPTAIN AMERICA 2. The Falcon adds to the action.
Scarlet is hot.
And, Bob, she’s a redhead in these MARVEL movies! Even hotter!
Welcome back, George! I saw this movie with my son yesterday. While I enjoyed it, as I do all superhero films, I have mixed opinions about it. I’m glad they introduced Falcon who is to Captain America what Robin is to Batman, except the bird’s “suit” isn’t like what it is in the Marvel comics where he sports giant feathered wings. But Anthony Mackie does look like Sam Wilson/Falcon.
Prashant, I heard an interview with Anthony Machie where he said he “courted” MARVEL STUDIOS for five years for the role of the Falcon. Every six months he’d talk to MARVEL and remind them of his intense interest. Obviously, Mackie’s strategy worked.
Truly a fun film, glad you liked it. I’m so ready for a Black Widow movie at this point. Johansson could easily carry it.
Glad the blog is back up. I’ll once again put a vote in for a box to subscribe to comments/replies.
Carl, I’ve been lobbying for that box to subscribe to comments/replies. Maybe when Patrick is home this July for a wedding, he can make that happen.
