CASIO Men’s W800H-1AV Classic Digital Sport Watch

Rick Robinson mentioned that after wearing a digital watch for 20 years, he’s gone back to an analog watch. Strangely enough, the case of my Casio Calculator watch that I’ve worn for over 20 years suddenly cracked. The watch continues to function, but I can’t attach a wrist band to it. So I decided it was time for a new watch. Since my Casio gave me trouble-free service for a couple of decades, I looked at Casio’s extensive line of watches. Their popular G-Shock line of watches were too clunky for me. I wanted something simple, reliable, and durable. After some searching, I found the Casio’s Men W800H-1AV Classic Digital Sport Watch. It has a nice, readable display. It’s shock resistant (I can dive with it down to 330 feet!) and water resistant. And it has several types of alarms and a digital stopwatch. All this for $15! And the Casio’s Men W800H-1AV Classic Digital Sport Watch is guaranteed by Casio until 2099!

Phil began wearing a watch recently. For a long time, he was allergic to the metal–even if only in the clasp. But the allergy went away and now he can’t be without it.

Although I wonder how many watches are sold these days. I use an inexpensive Timex, mostly to time my various cardio exercises. Otherwise, when I want to tell the time, I just look at my cell.

My son, Patrick, says: “Why do I need a watch? I have an iPhone.” I suppose when I finally give in and make a smart phone part of my life, I may eschew my Casio, too, Drongo. By the way, the legend of Tim Tebow grew after yesterday’s incredible game in Miami. The Bills play the Broncos later this season.

For those with band allergies, and comfort issues, I heartily recommend The Band – all fabric, micro-adjustable via Velcro, washable, easy to install, & cheap. Not fashionable, however. Having spent much time in your presence, George, I know you depend on your beep reminders; enjoy your new beeper. I gave up on digital watches many years ago – cheap plastic analog Timex with Indiglo works just fine for me.

I decided to do away with all of the “features” I never used anyway: timer, chrono, diving pressure, stopwatch, beepers and alarms, altitude readout, dual time zone, multiple read-out, and all the rest. I got an analog watch, just hands, sweep second hand, small window for date and one knob for setting time. That’s it. Got a Swiss Army Victorinox Officer XS, and at a very good price. Still a good bit more than yours, George, but I really like it.

I’ll probably give up my watch when I finally surrender to a smart phone, Rick. Right now, I need alarms and a nice digital display. In retirement…not so much.

George, Sunday’s game was crazy. For the first three hours of it you and your bum knee could have run the Bronco’s offense better than Tebow. Then, in the last few minutes, when it really counted, Timmy turned into the new Sammy Baugh. I’ve got no idea how he went from so bad to so good so quickly, as if a switch was flipped on.

Patti’s Lions–a much better team than the Fins–come to town next week. We gotta have a much more consistent offense to have any chance of winning. Here’s hoping the good Tebow shows up.

ESPN’s Colin Cowherd did an analysis of Tim Tebow yesterday, Drongo. According to Colin, Tebow’s mechanics are “fundamentally flawed.” But, Tebow has intangibles that allow him to win in certain situations. Like the 4th Quarter in Miami. But, you’re right: playing Patti’s Detroit Lions will be far different than playing the Dolphins!

No digital here – I like watching the second hand go around. The only problem with my cheap new watch is, I miss having the date on it.

Jackie is like Patrick – she quit wearing a watch when she retired and just checks her cell phone if she wants to know the time. I hate being without a watch. So yes, I always know what time it is!
