Last week, Deb made the comment: “Christmas isn’t Christmas in our house without listening at least once to Elvis’s Christmas album—that is a mainstay.” And just by chance, I stumbled over these Christmas Elvis CDs (while searching for something else). Elvis Christmas is the only Elvis Christmas CD you really need to listen to. It includes all of the Christmas songs Elvis sings so well.
In the everlasting quest for Truth in Advertising, I’m including the other two Elvis Christmas CDs I found: Elvis Presley Blue Christmas and Elvis sings The Wonderful World of Christmas. If you check the Track Lists, you’ll find they’re identical (except for the deceptive titles and different album covers).
Do you listen to Elvis at Christmas time? Do you have a favorite song? GRADES: Elvis Christmas—A, Elvis Presley Blue Christmas and Elvis sings The Wonderful World of Christmas — B

I have a very limited capacity for “Blue Christmas” — once a year seems a bit excessive to me. Perhaps if I could only hear it once every other leap year…..
Dan, “Jingle Bell Rock” seems to be dominating the Christmas music airwaves this year on our local radio stations. Good for Brenda Lee!
“Blue Christmas” is the epitome of a pop Christmas song to me. But on all these CDs, where is “Mama Liked the Roses”? It’s an incredibly sentimental song, but perfect for Christmas—while not actually having anything to do with Christmas.
Deb, I have a few more Elvis CDs and I’m sure “Mama Liked the Roses” is on one of them!
I guess at our house it was Motown Christmas, Ella, Johnny Mathis, Frank, and a few others. My mother despised Elvis and I guess she passed it down somehow.
Patti, my parents played a lot of tradition Christmas music during the Christmas season on our phonograph: Johnny Mathis, Boston Pops, Henry Mancini, and Percy Faith.
My mother was a bobbysocker, so Sinatra and Dean Martin got a lot of play in our house. Her favorite Christmas album, though, was Christmas Sing Along with Mitch — she loved to sing, though she didn’t have a good voice. In fact, when she made the family sit around with the lyric sheets, it must have sounded terrible, as only one of us (my brother) had a decent singing voice.
My mother died young, only 50, and one of my regrets is that she didn’t live long enough for karaoke to come in. She would have so loved that.
Jeff, that is a very touching story about your mother. My mother and father loved the Mitch Miller TV specials especially the Christmas ones. Patrick is the only one in our family that has a good singing voice.
My mother, like Jeff’s, was a bobby soxer and went to see Sinatra at the Paramount, I believe. We did not ever listen to Christmas music, except as a captive audience. My one exception is Phil Spector’s “A Christmas Wish for You.”
As for Elvis, it’s “Blue Christmas” or nothing, followed immediately by the great Porky Pig version.
Jeff, who can forget the Porky Pig version of “Blue Christmas”!
If I’ve heard it, I’ve forgotten it, and I could use some seasonal cheer right now. Shall seek it out.
It sounds like Porky but it isn’t him!
I’m not really a fan of Xmas – especially nowadays when it’s all about the money. We hate shopping right now …
The only Xmas music I remember is:

I seem to remember that one of my sister bought it and played it all day long, crazy!
Wolf, I play Phil Spector’s album every Christmas! Classic!
