The Deuce
Better Call Saul
Ray Donovan
Peaky Blinders
Stranger Things
Bosch
The Man in the High Castle
Sneaky Pete
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Big Little Lies
Steve, I liked FARGO but it just failed to make the cut.
Steve Oerkfitz
Forgot about The Leftovers and Game of Thrones.
Michael Padgett
It was a very good year for TV, and there were a lot of things I liked. The real standouts for me were the final season of “The Leftovers” and “Twin Peaks: The Return”.
Mine is very similar to Steve’s. Especially since we have started PEAKY BINDERS. I would add BETTER THINGS and MASTER OF THE WORLD and THE GOOD PLACE. We lost SHOWTIME so I missed this season of RAY.
My favorites go more to comedies (Man with a Plan, Young Sheldon, Big Bang Theory, Modern Family)
I just got Netflix streaming, so want to watch some of those. I wish Bosch was on there, and hope handmaiden’s tale is.
I liked the Deuce, but felt like I needed a shower after watching it. I still like scandal, but think it’s gone off the track this last season. Also like Hawaii 5-0 and Lucifer.
Also enjoying (when I can find it being shown) is Better Late than Never with Wm. Shatner, Terry Bradshaw, Henry Winkler and Geo. Foreman. One of the best quotes was “Terry, your wife is going to have a hard time finding a home for you)
I’ve got to admit, none of those would make my list. We will get to THE DEFENDERS but haven’t as yet, and, sad but true, we did not like THE DEUCE at all. The others we don’t have (HANDMAID) or don’t watch. (Some, like MINDHUNTER, are on our list but we haven’t started as yet.) I’m finding the Marvel series way too violent for my taste. (Jackie is watching LUKE CAGE herself as we speak.)
So what would be on my list:
THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL – nothing about this that I don’t like
THE LEFTOVERS
GLOW
THE WEST WING (we are rewatching Season 1)
MADAM SECRETARY
STRANGER THINGS (though I preferred Season 1)
LONGMIRE
BERLIN STATION
JOHN OLIVER’s LAST WEEK TONIGHT
Jeff, Diane wants to watch THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL as soon as the craziness of the Holidays fades. FULL FRONTAL WITH SAMANTHA BEE on TBS almost made the cut, but the uneven episodes held it back from making my recommended list.
I haven’t tried PEAKY BLINDERS:
1. I don’t like those kinds of period shows, as a rule
2. It’s me, I know, but I don’t like Cillian Murphy
3. It’s the name
I loved MRS. MAISEL until someone pointed out to me what a horrible mother she was. I admit that kind of lowered my rating. I know it’s not about the kids but still….
I’ll bet you can guess: none of the shows mentioned by anyone. My favorites are
PBS NEWSHOUR (especially on Friday when Shields and Brooks are on)
NOVA
NATURE (depending on topic),
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS games
Rick, Diane and I are also fans of the PBS NEWS HOUR and rarely miss Friday’s feature with Shields and Brooks. But, there’s a lot of great TV beyond PBS.

Steve, I’m a bunch of episodes behind on THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE. And, I still have to find time to watch STRANGER THINGS.
I should have added Fargo and Godless.
Steve, I liked FARGO but it just failed to make the cut.
Forgot about The Leftovers and Game of Thrones.

Michael, I have TWIN PEAKS: THE RETURN on Blu-ray. I need to watch it soon!
I have GOT to start watching Television!
Dan, you’re missing a lot! Several of my friends have “cut the cord” and just watch Netflix and HULU and Amazon Prime.
Mine is very similar to Steve’s. Especially since we have started PEAKY BINDERS. I would add BETTER THINGS and MASTER OF THE WORLD and THE GOOD PLACE. We lost SHOWTIME so I missed this season of RAY.
Oh, and I loved THE LEFTOVERS and MINDHUNTER.
Patti, I’ve heard very good things about MINDHUNTER. I think we’re in a new Golden Age of TV!
My favorites go more to comedies (Man with a Plan, Young Sheldon, Big Bang Theory, Modern Family)

Maggie, I was disappointed in the DOCTOR WHO CHRISTMAS SPECIAL this year. But I am looking forward to the female Doctor Who and the new showrunner.

I’m sure there are others I am forgetting.

I forgot John Oliver, I also watch Colbert and the Daily show I also love Madam Secretary
Maggie, we occasionally DVR Colbert and James Corden. CAR POOL KAROKE is a fave.
One more: BOSCH.
HOMELAND
CALL THE MIDWIFE

The settings, the music, the clothes, the acting (I love Tony Shalhoub as her father), it all comes together for me.
I’ll bet you can guess: none of the shows mentioned by anyone. My favorites are

Mostly I prefer to read.
