John Beilein, coach of Michigan’s men’s basketball team, is a local guy. Beilein grew up and played high school basketball in Newfane (a tiny town about 20 miles from my house). Beilein coached at my College before he got his chance at a Division 1 job at Canisius College in Buffalo. Then, it was off to West Virginia and then to Michigan. John Beilein has the support of Western NY basketball fans, but I don’t think that will be enough for the Wolverines to upset Syracuse. Syracuse is peaking at exactly the right time. I’m picking them to play in the Championship game Monday night against Louisville. Who are you picking?
Probably Louisville over Syracuse.
Most of NY State is rooting for Syracuse to go All the Way, Randy. But, you’re probably right: Louisville will win it all.
Louisville is the one #1 seed they got right, apparently. I’m impressed again with how well Syracuse has done (it’s amazing how few teams can beat their zone) but I also think it will be Louisville over Syracuse.
Louisville is the fastest team in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, Jeff. But, the Syracuse 2-3 zone is a speed trap. It will be fun to see how this all turns out.
My second choice would be Syracuse since my grandfather came from there, attended the university and perhaps I still have relatives there. But the game tonight, it’s Michigan for us.
People here are rooting for Michigan’s coach, Patti. Local kid does good!
I’m picking Louisville and Michigan to win today, and Louisville to beat Michigan in the final Monday night. If it’s Syracuse today, I’ll still pick Louisville to win it all. I love to root for the underdog, but from here on out I thing it’s louisville all the way. Still, wouldn’t it be fun to see a final of Wichita State and someone?
Rick, everyone has underestimated Wichita State. If I were a betting man, I’d take the 10 points and Wichita State against Louisville tonight.
There was a Lt. Syracuse in my company in Nam who was such a jackass I find it hard to root for the college. But I will if they’re against Louisville in the final.

Just checked the scores. It’ll be Louisville-Michigan. Talk about an I don’t care matchup.

Pat me on the back, boys, I called these. Though Wichita State really SHOULD have won that first game! I’ll pick Louisville in the final, which I’ll probably watch, at least the second half.
