The marvelous Haffner Press has just published The Collected Captain Future, Volume 3. The first two volumes were great! I’m a huge Edmond Hamilton fan and some of his best writing can be found in these Haffner tomes. Yes, this is pulp writing, but pulp writing at high level. The original covers are reproduced and there’s a nice selection of interior illustrations included, too. If you’re in the mood for some Sense of Wonder early Science Fiction, you’ll find it here!

Will Manly Wade Wellman’s contributions to the series also be collected? I wonder if anyone else wrote Cap’n F.
Will Manly Wade Wellman’s contributions to the series also be collected? I wonder if anyone else wrote Cap’n F. And you’d put this ahead of his early work for WEIRD TALES and AMAZING, and his later work starting with “What’s It Like Out There?”
Todd, I’m a fan of everything Edmond Hamilton wrote included his comic book stuff. CAPTAIN FUTURE transports me to my youth. Haffner Press is also collecting Hamilton’s SF work: Volume 4 has just been published and Volume 5 is in production.
I’ve looked at these, but have been buying the other Haffner series of his works. I’ve only read a few of the tales in the first of those, but it’s fun reading, though sometimes a bit stilted, as was the way then. What I’m impatient for is Haffner’s first volume of Fredrick Brown “Mystery Library”. I pre-ordered it many months ago and have been waiting………
Rick, I ordered both FREDRIC BROWN VOLUMES 1 & 2. I try to buy everything Haffner Press publishes. Small presses deserve our support.
This looks cool, George. I’m always in the mood for science fiction though I don’t read it as often as I should, other genres poking their noses in. Thanks for the link.
Prashant, I’m a big fan of Haffner Press. I order just about everything they publish. The books are high quality!
Todd, Joseph Samachson (“William Morrison”) wrote two of the Captain Future novels under the house name “Brett Sterling”: WORLDS TO COME (in CAPTAIN FUTURE, Spring 1943) and DAY OF CREATION (in CAPTAIN FUTURE, Spring 1944). With the exception of the Manly Wade Wellman (THE SOLAR INVASION), I believe all other Captain Future novels and stories were written by Hamilton.
