I’m just about done with grading and correcting for this semester. Freedom is just a day away! My theme song at this time of year is the wonderful “Get Me Through December” by Allison Krauss & Natalie McMaster. It’s a poignant song that captures just where I’m at in the waning days before Christmas. You can find “Get Me Through December” on both Allison Krauss’ A Hundred Miles Or More and Natalie McMaster’s In My Hands. Both albums are full of great music!

‘GET ME THROUGH DECEMBER”
How pale is the sky that brings forth the rain
As the changing of seasons prepares me again
For the long bitter nights and the wild winter’s day
My heart has grown cold, my love stored away
My heart has grown cold, my love stored away

I’ve been to the mountain, left my tracks in the snow
Where souls have been lost and the walking wounded go
I’ve taken the pain no girl should endure
Faith can move mountains; of that I am sure
But faith can move mountains; of that I am sure

Just get me through December
A promise I’ll remember
Get me through December
So I can start again

No divine purpose brings freedom from sin
And peace is a gift that must come from within
I’ve looked for the love that will bring me to rest
Feeding this hunger beating strong in my chest
Feeding this hunger beating strong in my chest

Get me through December
A promise I’ll remember
Get me through December
So I can start again

Not familiar with this song. My few CDs that I buy come from Amazon (for a physical disk) or iTunes (for direct download) or for classical music from Arkiv Music (physical disks). I fondly remember going into the huge Tower Records near my house in southern California and just browsing by the hour.

I first discovered Allison Krauss when some of her songs were used on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

I’ll have to get this one as well. I usually get my CDs (still not in the habit of buying single songs) from Amazon. They remember who I like/ordered and let me know when new stuff is coming out.

I buy one or two CD’s a year and it’s usually an impulse purchase from a local department store. And it’s usually oldies.
