Now I just have to tell my favourite bad, bad joke:
45 years, great! And how many more years do you have to stay together?
    Congratulations!
In these days that really is something special.
    PS:
If you find that joke inappropriate, just delete it.

Wolf, when I was still teaching, I mentioned in class that Diane and I were celebrating our 35th Wedding Anniversary. After class, a student came up to me and said, “Doctor Kelley, I don’t know anybody who’s been married for 35 years. The couple who has been married longest in my family is…5 years.”

Wow. As someone who has lived with someone for almost 28 years, and lived with my first serious ex for almost 8 previously, I think when it works (or mostly!), it does…and clearly it’s working for you two…congratulations! Many happy years to come! (One hopes that student’s family was full of amicable splits, at least.)

Todd, I wasn’t privy to the details of that student’s family and friends, but there’s no doubt that long-term relationships are rarer today than in the Past. I consider myself very lucky!

Congratulations to you & Diane on achieving such a milestone! I hope you lovebirds have something fun planned to celebrate.

Deb, the first part of the day will involve taking Patrick and Katie to the Airport. This is supposed to be one of the busiest travel days of the year so we’re anticipating traffic problems and flight delays. But our dinner plans are set: dinner at Diane’s favorite local restaurant, The Hideaway Grille. My brother and his wife will join us. I’ll probably go with the Prime Rib unless one of their Specials appeal to me. Diane will probably chose one of their many chicken offerings. The Hideaway Grille specializes in desserts: coconut cream pie, banana cream pie, Ghirardelli chocolate lava cake, Snickers pie, apple pie, Italian cheesecake, and usually some Special desserts for New Year’s Weekend.

Happy Anniversary! I always remember it is just before the end of the year, yet still manage to forget it until it happens.

Any swanky dinner plans? Kids are leaving today, right? Too bad you’re not in Brooklyn, as we are going for a favorite meal that you would love – calamari oreganata, followed by shrimp oreganata heroes. Gotta get in our last time before Florida.

Jeff, many thanks for your well-wishes! Your dinner sounds great! I’m hoping Patrick makes it back to Brooklyn despite all the potential travel problems. So far, Patrick and Katie’s flights are on-time.

Megan’s flight from JFK was three hours late getting in but on time going back. Have a wonderful anniversary. And many more.

I have the deepest appreciation and admiration for couples that can stay married and in love through the years. Happy anniversary to both of you. Robert Browning would be proud.

Byron, thank you for your heart-felt appreciation and admiration! I met Diane in High School when we worked on the Yearbook together. I had a crush on her then and I still have a crush on her now!
